Château Laurens — Attraction in Béziers

Absolutely stunning art nouveau & art deco villa, totally worth seeing if you like historical architecture! You can only visit on a guided tour but the tour is really nice, our guide Florian was very knowledgeable and friendly!

There are tours available in both English and French, it’s better to book tickets in advance online, but I did see people buying tickets at the front desk. The booking website is confusing, which is the only negative thing I have to say about our visit. I was able book tickets online by emailing the help desk, so if you’re struggling to book online I recommend emailing them.

Chateau Lauren’s is still being restored in some areas and you can tell they’re putting a lot of effort into the restoration. There is also a visitor’s center, bathrooms and 1 euro storage lockers that can fit a backpack. Overall I was really impressed with both the villa and the effort that’s gone into making it...

Visually stunning, this place is a must see! The villa itself is only accessible with a guide and several tours in French or English are offered. Our guide for the hour long visit, Olivia, spoke excellent English and was able to share her obvious passion for this incredible place. I found the booking page slightly confusing and ended up paying for a child place that should have been free… next time I will call to book. It would be interesting to show the state in which the building and furnishings were in before the restorations because it makes you realise the skill of the restoration artists and craftsmanship that was necessary, but also the full extent of these restorations. Accueil limite, pas beaucoup d'explications au sujet des types de visite, bon, passe encore. Mais la guide, milena perraud... nous n'avons jamais expérimenté une visite aussi déplaisante. Et c'est peu dire... Certains visiteurs du groupe avaient des questions auxquelles la guide ne pouvait que rouler des yeux et les critiquer. Après quoi à chaque explication, elle revenait dessus en disant que " certaines personnes disent que, pensent que.." tout en critiquant la question posait quelques minutes avant. Clairement un jugement déplacé de personnes simplement curieuses. Nous n'avons pas vu toutes les pièces disponibles. Et de plus, la guide nous a proposé d'interrompre la visite coûtant 18 euros car certaines personnes posaient des questions sur ces pièces, émettant que si nous savions mieux qu'elle, elle pouvait s'en aller mais qu'elle savait tout, donc nous aurions dû nous taire sans poser aucune question. De toute manière les questions n'étaient pas bien venues. Nous avons donc été guidés par une dame qui apparemment a très peu de professionnalisme et ne montre aucune envie de répondre aux visiteurs. Finalement, l'histoire de l'art ou l'égyptologie était bien presente mais quand les gens ont des questionnement sur un homme et un endroit mystérieux comme dirait madame, pas besoin de les prendre pour des cons et de rendre la visite extrêmement désagréable pour 25 visiteurs. A défaut d'un doctorat, il semblerait que, guide ne fait pas parti de ses acquis. Nous avons été dégoûtés et ce ne sont là qu'une partie des évènements. Quel Dommage le chateau est...
