As others have mentioned here, we found some of the staff rude and unhelpful. They just seemed fed up doing their job and more interested in starting arguments with each other and customers rather than making it an enjoyable experience. Also its extremely expensive for a poorly laid out track. It cost us nearly €100 for less than 10 minutes. The younger members of our group were particularly disappointed that they were only getting familar with the karts and their time was up. Some members of our party were actually on the track for a lot less than 10 minutes. We've been go karting at tracks across Europe and this was a very poor experience in comparision. Give it a miss.
Additional Information following the response from the Bergerac Karting Track. The response from the karting track makes me think that there is a serious management issue at this track and supports my view that staff here are more interested in arguing with customers than actually making it an enjoyable experience.
Their aggressive response below probably tells customers all they need to know about how this track is managed.
For the record. €18 plus €1 for a balacava X 5 people is €95 for 10 minutes (nearly €100). In my review I made no reference to any member our party crashing. My reference to staff arguing with customers relates to my brother picking up a helmet to put it on. He was shouted by a staff member and then berated for not following staff instructions.
We did, however witness karting staff being very aggressive towards a teenage boy who's kart left the track.
I don't think they have given an accurate or fair description of the incident. The teenage boy was clearly up set by the incident. Not because he left the track but the aggressive attitude of some staff. He had only completed a half a lap of the course and he was aggressively taken out of the Kart and marched across the track in front of all the other customers. I felt very sorry for him.
I recall that the track staff, after an argument among themselves, agreed that they overreacted to the incident and agreed to allow the teenager back onto the track, but only if he paid again.
I didn't see any damage to the kart and it was used in the next race.
On karting tracks, karts leave the track all the time. In my view, rarely does any person deliberated drive the kart off the track. My experience is that karting staff use this moment to help drivers by providing additional help and guidance.
It takes a personality with patience and kindness to run a karting track. You won't find either...
English translation
Where do I start? staff were extremely rude, unwelcoming and unclear when advising guests of rules and regulations, whilst there was an english translation of the requirements, it only stated to brake whilst on a straight line and mind out for others and also showed the format of the controls. when i got onto the track with my dad and his friend i had five people speed past me which proves that i was intentionally trying to not go fast. However as i was half way through my second time round the track, a driver sped past me causing me to go into a mountain of tires in which a member of staff ran over to me and told me to get out of the kart and didnt bother to ask me if i was ok, instead told me that i had broken the rules "clearly instructed by staff" and told me that my turn which i paid 18 euros for, was over. My problem with that is i have paid just to be removed due to something that i had no control over yet the driver that actually broke the rules by driving irresponsibly faced no punishment. i would urge you not to waste your money at this go kart place just to be insulted by rude...
Read moreSecond time visiting this track in Bergerac.
The track itself is interesting with plenty of twisty sections. The karts are okay, with the "Fun" karts being suitable for younger drivers, but the "Sport" being more challenging for older racers.
It is pretty busy during holidays, so do expect the track to be fairly full.
It is worth saying, my French is of a very basic level, so there may have been confusion or finesse lost in translation. However, do be clear which type of kart you are looking to hire when you pay, as we ended up with ones we weren't expecting. Check the colour of ticket dispensed. My enquiry on this was initially met in a dismissive nature (perhaps, used to difficult customers or me misinterpreting French etiquette), however they did confirm to my satisfaction the correct amount was paid....
