La Plage Centrale — Attraction in Céret

Most beautiful beach. Lots of space to set up camp with a parasol (about 15 euros to buy locally) and some beach towels. Sea is beautifully warm and safe to swim in. Lots of lifeguards looking out for anything untoward. Some people complain that The sand is too coarse, personally doesn't bother me and I am from West coast of Scotland where the sand is fine and white. I looked of this place on the map because I am reading the book of Isabel Allende "A Long Petal of the Sea". At the end of the Spanish Civil war thousands of refugees from Spain were kept in concentración camps on the beach and let to die of cold and hunter, included women and children. This beach is perfect. On one side you'll have the ocean to marvel at on the other the pyrenees greet you and especially the Canigou in the distance. The water is clear and relatively warm depending on the time you're there.
