Plage du Racou — Attraction in Céret

A lovely spot, tucked away where fewer tourists go. At least that the felling I get when I go there because it feels so cosy and quiet. I love it that there aren’t any big hotels on the beach, just small cute lodges. The car park is quite big and there’s another one a couple of minutes away on foot that’s even bigger. Pleasant surprise! I was expecting a dirty beach based on some reviews, but it was clean with no trash. The sand is more like fine stone chippings mixed with sand, so not ideal for trolleys—they sink. Saw one pigeon and quite a few sparrows. Warm water (23°C) with strong currents, and a large float in the sea for playing, which was fun. No shower, but there’s a bouledrome nearby. Stamattina 29 sett 2023, ho lasciato l'auto a Canet en Roussillon avendo deciso di arrivare alla Plage du Racou (presso Argeles sur mer) con la mia bici percorrendo circa 25 km circa a tratta. Il percorso, tutto su piste ciclabili, è godibilissimo e si effettua in circa 2 ore ad andatura medio lenta. Durante il percorso, si incontra sulla destra, un antico villaggio di pescatori sulle rive del grande Etang de Canet ou de Saint Nazaire (stagno); c'è la possibilità di Bird Watching, la visita è libera. Proseguendo, si attraversa prima Saint Cyprien e dopo Argeles sur Mer; dopo il porto di Argeles si estende la spiaggia di sabbia del Racou. Vi sono 2 parcheggi; uno gratuito (vedi foto allegata) di circa 500 post e un altro, adiacente alla spiaggia, a pagamento ( attenzione, i posti sono contrassegnati da strisce orizzontali bianche che traggono in inganno). Il borgo si presenta piacevole, di case basse, semplicemente snob. Il mare è pulito e cristallino, i fruitori discreti e silenziosi.
