My mother took me to this place, having been there twice before. It is clear that the beach shack has gone dramatically downhill. It was only a third full in what is high season and there were only foreigners. Relying on a hipster laid-back image, the servings are extremely stingy for high prices. Despite elaborate explanations, emphasis on local flavorful and bio food ingredients, the meal was totally unexceptional. In fact, one could even question the provenance of the base ingredients. We ordered 6 starters as a tapas menu with three glasses of wine for three people. We left hungry and disappointed by a pricey bill and rude and angry service from the waitresses. The bill came to 92 euros excluding service.
Later that day, still hungry, we went to Chateau de Jau which is also regional but up in the mountains, and had a four-course meal with 8 wines. For four persons the bill was only moderately higher and the quality in a different league. We would suggest you choose to go there and experience an authentic meal in unbelievable surroundings. We would also recommend that the staff of Menje Ecaille take the trip to experience how both food, wine, and service should...
Read moreWe discovered this place after being in Argeles for years just never ventured further than the port for boat rentals. We strolled down the street where there were many bars, snacks and restaurant. We chanced upon it when the dishes on the tables where clients were eating caught my eyes. It was a shack like yet very trendy and cosy with lots of woods, straws, bamboos on the terrace lots of recycled materials and furniture. They only use organic produce and everything is prepared and cooked from scratch. They have a wide choice of organic wine from the cellar which you can choose or by glasses with a limited choice. Menu is on a board. Prices are reasonable considering that they only use fresh organic local produces. They were crowded reservations recommended. We enjoyed our evening. The food was exceptional! The fish was cooked to perfection! The pork dish I had felt like it melted in my mouth. Service was excellent. Location is just by Le Racou beach. Very charming village. You have to check this out! Will...
Read moreAwful in every sense but we were lucky at the end…
We made a reservation, we thought we made it at 14.30h and when we got there they say it was made at 12.30h. I think it’s a mutual mistake, this kind of things happen but when they say that we were the wrong ones just because you can’t eat in France later than 14h it really pissed me off because their opening time at google says they close at 15.30h.
At the end, we didn’t get a table and it was great because the food looked really bad and the staff was rude. But let me tell you that it’s part of your job check your opening times vecero trying to teach a lesson to a customer, it makes you a really bad professional and a non empathic person for someone who’s supposed to deal with people on his daily basis.
I marked the place for my foodie friends as a non real km.0 and no natural wine...
