The Château du Girsberg is one of three castles which overlook the commune of Ribeauvillé in the Haut-Rhin département of France. It stands at an altitude of 528 m. The Lords of Ribeaupierre built the castle, then named Stein, in the 13th century. They rebuilt it after a fire caused by lightning in 1288.

Ohhhh, I loved this castle. I was so amazed not only at the view but about all the effort these knights had to build this castle along the mountain top. Of course I had to take a break to connect with their spirits with my pendulum and an alphabet dowsing chart. The message really touched me! "BONJOUR MADAME, WE ARE KNIGHTS OF CHÂTEAU GIERSBERG. Die Burg Girsberg ist die unmittelbar der Ulrichsburg vorgelagerte Burg. Erbaut wurde die erstmals 1288 erwähnte Spornburg von einem Nebenzweig der Herren von Rappoltstein. Anselm II von Rappoltstein tauschte jedoch die zuvor noch als "Stein" benannte Burg im Jahr 1304 gegen den Stammsitz der Herren von Girsberg nahe Soultzbach, sicherte sich aber dabei für seine Familie sowohl das Vorkaufsrecht als auch das Schließrecht. Nach Erneuerung der Burg durch die Girsberger erhielt sie ihren heutigen Namen, obwohl sie nach einer Fehde der beiden Familien im Jahr 1422, bei der Hans Wilhelm von Girsberg erschossen wurde, wieder zurück an die Rappoltsteiner fiel.
