Stayed two nights. Family run, appeared popular with locals; service relaxed but adequate.||||Our room (7) was located in the original part of the hotel, at the front; I had asked for a view if possible and we had a balcony with a view over the square and towards the hills - possibly the only room with a balcony. Room decor/furniture a bit basic, but totally fine for the price; bright and cheerful, plenty of space, and everything was absolutely spotlessly clean. There is a brand new annexe at the rear of the hotel where the rooms might be a bit more modern. Bed comfortable and shower very good. Only downside was the noise at night, particularly on our 2nd night, which was a Thursday, so no particular reason for it that I could see. ||||Breakfast was good, plentiful coffee, OJ, bread, croissants, cheese and ham.||||Probably little English spoken (though we didn't test this) - most people appear to speak German - and as a previous reviewer has noted, no credit cards accepted.||||We didn't eat here though I think we probably should have. Had one meal at the Restaurant du Cerf and another at the Brasserie de la Poste, both of which were wholly unremarkable, serving standard fare aimed at the tourist market, neither good nor bad enough to warrant a review. ||||Ribeauville itself is pleasant if a bit touristy (on the Alsace Route du Vin). We did the 3 chateaux walk in the hills above the village, which was well worth the effort and easily done in...

These other rooms are more spacious, but in the rear facing the rockwall at 4 m distance.||On that point we did not complain, because the outside communal sitting area was spacious and with easy chairs and pillowed garden settees. To our surprice, two other guests went to an outside Jacuzzie adjoining the upper terrace. We were not told that the hotel had this facility, but after checking, it was available to all guests, but in October the souna is closed. ||We booked a dinner time at the restaurant, but it appeared that the hotel had suggested that we sit in the bare back room, instead of the better decorated frontrooms. Luckely we could move to the "period" restaurant. ||We were tired from a day long walk, but woke up some time after midnight, because of the buzzing noise (little but well audible) of the kitchen fan, just outside our rock facing window. Appartently it bas bolted directly to the stone wall of the hotel (no vibration absorbers) so is was more audible in the bathroom, and from the outside the noise reflected to the rock wall into the window. They could have placed a sound reflector around it.||Anyhow, after using my earplugs I fell asleep again. ...
