Stopped off in Montreuil for a picnic lunch break with a school group. Parked the coach near the station & took a short walk (5 mins, uphill) to the ramparts. Spectacular views from the walls lead you around to the Citadelle & also, the tourist information office. (note: 1 high-tech unisex public toilet here). Loads of info boards & few little surprises along the way (such as the beautiful statue of the Madonna & Child) add to the attraction of this location. The Citadelle itself charges an small entry fee, as it houses museums, historical displays, etc.., however the wall walks, moat & recreational areas are pretty much open access. Reputed to be an inspiration on Victor Hugo, ...if you can get here when the village presents their version of Les...
