20 minutes from Paris by RER A and you are in here. It was interesting to know the way French people went through in world war second, the fight for liberty with Charles de Gaulle on the head. The price is 8€, for children is 4€, for unemployment is just free admission. Unfortunately, 98% of information is in French language. And some halls need to be cleaned from the dust.

Intéressée par l’histoire de la résistance je viens de visiter ce musée. L’édifice, construit en bord de Marne, attire l’œil avec son immense porte à faux. Y entrer génère aussi une forte émotion grâce à son escalier monumental et ses sculptures. Le fonds est très riche, magnifiquement présenté, histoires de résistants, documents, vidéos, objets, dessins et lettres tout cela contribue à nous immerger dans cette histoire, à la rendre émouvante. Je n’oublierai pas non plus de mentionner l’exposition temporaire sur la danse pendant l’occupation, transgression et note d’espoir dans une période si sombre. Bravo à Xavier Aumage, archiviste. Merci aussi au jeune homme de l’accueil qui nous a chaleureusement reçus et offert des pins. Je regrette seulement le peu d’intérêt que suscite un tel lieu: nous étions seuls (2) un samedi à 16h!

Une muséographie rénovée dans un bâtiment neuf, réaménagé pour l'occasion, avec une collection mise en valeur grâce aux efforts sans compter de l'équipe historique. Puisse cette activité continuer et augmenter son public et sa notoriété. Après l'exposition temporaire réussie sur les bals clandestins pendant l'occupation, dans l'environnement des guinguettes des bords de Marne - la nouvelle exposition temporaire avec les photos de DOISNEAU - à voir. Et pour terminer sereinement la visite, pour se balader sur l'espace nature des bords de Marne - il suffit de traverser la rue 🚣. Pause possible à la guinguette du Martin-Pêcheur, sur l'ile du même nom.

This museum is a hidden gem and deserves a visit by anyone interested in learning of the bravery and sacrifice made for the fight for France’s freedom in WWII. Although there is no audio guide and everything is in French, you can easily use translation on a phone to read the placards. In these times, it’s great to have this museum show that freedom is worth fighting for. ...

History often talks about the big battles but here you learn about the struggles and bravery of the individuals. However be aware that if you are not fluent in French, there is very little that is translated...
