A small, fortified city on an island at Concarneau. We arrived at low tide, and left as the tide returned. You can walk part of the ramparts but only one ruined tower. Inside, the city consists of essentially 3 streets--1 main thoroughfare & two streets along the castle walls. Most of the buildings are restaurants and clothing or souvenir shops. A lovely view of the bay can be seen on 2 sides, while the other sides show the adjoining town. Historical signs are few & in French only. We visited on a market day, so parking was a pain. We finally found spots about a mile away. Stop on the castle walls side for a less crowded lunch. A photo opp outside L'Amiral for Magritte & Dupin mystery fans. It's free to...

Probably this is the reason to go to Concarneau. Plan enough time and consider an overcrowded place when going to Ville Close. It's very beautiful and full of restaurants and shops, so to say a tourist hotspot to spend your money. Historically you can see and learn a lot, too.

Our motivation was an GC Adventure Lab that is modelled very well. It guides you through the whole location. You can find Tradis, too. Sometimes very tricky with all that other muggles.

What a delight! I could get about so much more easily than I expected. It was suitable for my powerchair as mist areas had slabbed areas and paving (some cobbles patches but not too many or for too long). Pleasantly surprised at how many shops I could get in. More than om used roo so I enjoyed being able to shop by myself for a change! Great restaurant that we sat outside fir drinks and tgen came back later for dinner. Next to the porte de Vin. Great service and beautiful meal. Fun to be here on music festival day even...
