Musée d'Art et d'Industrie — Attraction in Saint-Étienne

What a wonderful museum! History of bicycle and weaving technologies engaged one in the rich industrial heritage of the region. Great bookshop. Excellent proximity to other spots which should be on your list to visit like the big indoor market & restaurants and cafes under glass. And I got to see displays and explanations of the origin of the Jacquard Loom punch cards which were the basis of the Hollerith cards used in the early days of programming computers! I learned programming on punch cards in the late 1970’s and there they were from hundreds of years ago. Wonderful, wonderful, eye...

Lots of items, but the curator should be fired. Absolutely no structured narrative or anything that would capture young imaginations. Many information screens didn't work, and despite displaying an English language symbol, that didn't work either.

You'd think that with Saint Etienne hosting four Rugby World Cup games and nearby Lyon another five over a month that the cities would have prepared their cultural centres for visits...

The "Cafe" is two vending machines, one for Coffee the other...

I may say HOW I LOVED IT! Actually, since the entering it was already amazing. Kind people, very nice guiding was proposed, very well signposted sense of visit,... AND...

... The expositions! Did you know there are some weapons over there used in the medium age? From 10th to 16th centries! Personal objects of a marechal who used to live exactly there, where it is the museum!
