Nice and quiet places on both French and German shores of the river called "The Rhin". Those are separated with a nice bridge called: the Mimram bridge (it took the name of the architect who designed it). It was inaugurated in 2004. In my opinion, the best moment to cross the bridge is on a sunset... The lights are just amazing. 👍 There have been se amenities on both sides... On the French side, you can walk through different kind of garden as well as a kid playground, so everyone can enjoy the place. On the German side, you can also take a walk along "The Rhin" or go to a nice little place with water jets popping from the ground and let the kids play (needless to say this can only be done in summer 😁). I guess there must some other gems here, I'm sorry but since i'm French, i most likely don't know or missed some of them... If you are keen on visiting new places or just bored and don't know what to do, come spend se.te at the "Deux-Rives" garden. Both sides are...

Walked thru and over the small bridges to get to the main plazas.

Loved the contrasting architecture that rebuilt the war worn destroyed buildings yet kept the character of the past. The craftsmanship of the cathedrals and churches are spectacular to admire. Was amazed at the longevity of the religious houses of worship and the beautiful stained glass windows and rose windows. Each religious statue was carved to meet the architectural and aesthetic demands. Each church has its own distinct uniqueness and beauty.

Can't possibly replicate these historic art pieces. The mixed blend works and is very much appreciated.

We also came upon a commemorative ceremony celebrating the anniversary of the freeing of France from Germany's control during the war. Military troops from various nations honored.their cooperative efforts and then attended a special Mass at the Cathedral of Alsace.

See the beauty of this over 600 year old sycamore tree...

🇬🇧 The park on the French side is very nicely designed and clean. You can cross the border on foot or by bike over the bridge. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Unfortunately, the German side in Kehl was very spartan in comparison. There was not even enough flagging with the French, German and European flags. I found that a bit disrespectful towards our French neighbours, who had put up all three flags. Especially since on the day of our visit, a Franco-German festival had taken place on the French side. What a pity, dear...

Second largest park in Strasbourg. There is a large reserve south of the park as well with trails throughout. The park has a small ice cream truck there most days during spring and summer. There is a dog park and lots of play areas for children. There are rock beaches where you can toss rocks in the water. Very busy on the weekends but mostly empty the rest of the week, especially mornings.

Watched the world cup 2018 final there and the athmosphere was indescriptible. The organisation and the animation were very good and had an amazing view on the giant screen put in front of the rhein. Every france goal and finally the world champion sacre made us all 25000 people jump and sing together and the the memory and the athmposhere will stay forever in our minds. Formidable day.
