Gergeti Trinity View Point — Attraction in Mtskheta-Mtianeti

Breathtaking Views & Historical Gem!

We visited Gergeti Trinity Viewpoint about a month ago, and it was truly one of the most stunning places in Georgia! Located around 3 hours from Tbilisi, this spot offers breathtaking views of the Greater Caucasus Mountains and the charming Stepantsminda town below.

🚗 Getting There:

In winter, the road is snow-covered, and only 4x4 vehicles can reach the top. In summer, visitors can take a cab or even hike the 6 km route for an adventurous experience. 🏛️ Historical Significance: The Gergeti Trinity Church, built in the 14th century, is an architectural and cultural treasure. It has witnessed history, once serving as a hideout during invasions and later being closed under Soviet rule. Today, it is active again and welcomes visitors.

🏔️ Scenic Beauty & Weather: The views from the top are absolutely breathtaking, with snow-capped peaks all around and the red rooftops of Stepantsminda creating a postcard-perfect scene. Whether in summer or winter, the landscape is stunning! ❄️ It gets extremely cold at the top, even during the day—so make sure to wear full warm clothes, including gloves, caps, and jackets to stay comfortable.

Het waaide hard, was koud, de zon was al weg, het was erg druk, de kerk staat in de steigers, 1e kappeletje is leeg. De foto die je veel ziet met de kerk en die bergen op de achtergrond, daar heb je drone voor nodig of hele steile hoge berg voor opklimmen, niet haalbaar voor de meeste mensen. Drone vliegen is verboden maar wordt toch gedaan, constant dat gezoem. De wandeling naar de kerk is erg zwaar, steil en tricky, wandelstokken nodig, geen railing, veel losse stenen en gravel, niet te doen vonden wij (1.6 km) terwijl wij best fit zijn.
