I decided to stay in Strepantsminda before going on to Gudauri. The location is beautiful and the view from the lounge area is stunning overlooking the snow capped mountains. The downside is that it is quite far from the main area and shops so probably best to pick up some groceries before heading up. The rooms were comfortable however the stairs leading up to the top room are quite steep and wouldn't recommend for kids. The water coming out of the shower wasn't really hot either unless you used the smaller shower head. The kitchen is equipped with utensils and a fridge and there is a small stove top to cook on however a spatula would have been useful. You have to do your dishes in the bathroom basin and it's really small and there isn't a drying rack for the dishes either. This would be nice to have. On the last night I stayed there I couldn't sleep as there was a pipe from the ceiling down the side of the cabin knocking against the cabin when the wind blew (it was a windy eve) and it made a horrible noise. I went outside to try fix it but was unsuccessful. There is a restaurant next door but it wasn't open however on one night there were people there, not sure if it was friends of the owners but they were talking until 2:30am which we could hear. It was late so I couldn't call anyone. The other thing that really annoyed me was that we could hear our neighbours being intimate and my son heard it too which is just not nice at all. The walls are thin so you can hear everything. I wasnt impressed by this at all. Overall, our stay was fine but it is remote which some may enjoy but I was happy with just a few nights and it was a...
Read moreAt first sight it looked awesome but in the end it wasn't such a nice stay. Due to a landslide we couldn't go there via the usual road and we needed to take a detour, which made it hard to find. The cabin itself is parted into two separate accommodations. It is poorly soundproofed and you hear everything from your neighbours. The view is absolutely awesome and the restaurant next to it is great. The place is comfy and clean. Privacy is difficult, because the curtains can not be fully closed and everyone walking by looks into the room.
Worst thing during our stay: due to the landslide there where some issues with the water pipeline. So there was no running water at all. You could not use the bathroom for whatsoever. Nobody could tell us when it is going to be fixed and if there is any other option for us to stay. In the end we cancelled our second night over here and searched for another...
Read moreImagine taking shelter in a cozy secluded wooden cabin high up the altitude surrounded by the snow capped Caucasus with an ultra cold weather outside and a view to die for....Incredible isn't it? That is exactly what you get from Kazbegi Cabins. Initially, we had our doubts in accessing the property because it was a freezing December evening and a heavy snow was round the corner. But all went smooth and it was one of our best decision to choose this stay although we wished there were more people with us. I would certainly recommend this property to go in as a group of say, 4-6 if you really want some adventure up the mountains. Avoid the off season (Dec-Feb) to get the service of the next door restaurant. and yes as some people suggested here, they could beef it up with a provision...
