Nürburg castle is a romantic view point over the area. It had been in ruins for several hundred years - and inspires for any creative entrepreneur! It'd a pity it simply is a ruin, as it would make a great venue. The place has been well labeled, though, both in German, English and French and blind writing. The entrance cost 3 Euros per person. The tower offers an amazing view- if you dare to climb up the free-hanging stairs across two levels! Nothing for soft souls afraid of height or steps. It's worthwhile for sure! The hike up to the castle goes up a steep hill, so wearing good footwear and maybe bringing your hiking stick are advisable, though not mandatory. There are toilets on top, but they were closed when we went there. You can easily see the Nürburg ring track and hear the cars roaring during the race. Come from far away, buy a ticket at 17:00 to view the castle (last admission is at 17:30, castle closes at 18:00) but the cashier at the entrance wants you out at 17:25. Was rude about it too ( no language problem, I speak German well ). I would think: if the castle closes at 18:00, let me at least stay until 17:50.
Could only enter the tower because the rest is sealed off for renovation. So was only able to view about 30% of the ruins. Price not reduced or warned that there is less to see.
