Nürburg castle is a romantic view point over the area. It had been in ruins for several hundred years - and inspires for any creative entrepreneur! It'd a pity it simply is a ruin, as it would make a great venue. The place has been well labeled, though, both in German, English and French and blind writing. The entrance cost 3 Euros per person. The tower offers an amazing view- if you dare to climb up the free-hanging stairs across two levels! Nothing for soft souls afraid of height or steps. It's worthwhile for sure! The hike up to the castle goes up a steep hill, so wearing good footwear and maybe bringing your hiking stick are advisable, though not mandatory. There are toilets on top, but they were closed when we went there. You can easily see the Nürburg ring track and hear the cars roaring during the race. Definitely a must-see in the area, for a leisure hour after or...

A ruin of a castle worth visiting, specially for the view from the tower. I would have enjoyed it very much if not for:

Come from far away, buy a ticket at 17:00 to view the castle (last admission is at 17:30, castle closes at 18:00) but the cashier at the entrance wants you out at 17:25. Was rude about it too ( no language problem, I speak German well ). I would think: if the castle closes at 18:00, let me at least stay until 17:50.

Could only enter the tower because the rest is sealed off for renovation. So was only able to view about 30% of the ruins. Price not reduced or warned that there is less to see.

Did not feel...

Visiting Nürburg Castle on a foggy day creates an almost mystical experience. The castle's ancient stone walls rise dramatically through the mist, evoking a sense of history and mystery. The fog shrouds the surrounding landscape, blurring the lines between past and present, and adding an eerie quiet to the atmosphere. From the castle’s vantage point, the rolling hills below appear like a dreamscape, with only occasional glimpses of the town of Nürburg emerging through the haze. The weather enhances the castle’s imposing, yet serene, presence, making it feel like stepping into a forgotten world...

Step back in time and explore the storied halls of Nurburg Castle, where centuries of history whisper tales of knights, nobility, and intrigue. Let's embark on an adventure through medieval splendor, where every stone holds secrets and every tower beckons to be conquered. Join me for a journey through time amidst the breathtaking scenery of the Eifel region, as we uncover the timeless charm of Nurburg Castle together.

My husband and I always enjoy stopping by the Nurburg Castle 🏰 and looking around and then grabbing a bite to eat at the restaurant below. Fantastic views up on the very top, usually a bit windy. Watch your step on the climb up, there are handrails the entire way and mostly lit up (occasionally there will be a light out, but it's easy to go slow and find your way).
