BRENNA X – XII wiek, (Brandenburg, Marchia Wschodnia, inaczej Marchia Gero, Łabska, też Sorbska). Rok 983, wybucha wielkie powstanie Słowian przeciw trybutowi i panowaniu margrabiego Dietricha von Haldensleben. W trakcie powstania zniszczono siedzibę biskupa w Havelbergu, a 3 dni póżniej siedzibę margrabiego. W ten sposób hołd i trybut z Saskiej Marchii Wschodniej (Sächsische Ostmark) przepadły, a niemieckie osadnictwo i chrześcijaństwo zostały powstrzymane na 150-200 lat. Polskie plany wyraża utworzenie w 1124 roku, sąsiadującej obok, diecezji lubuskiej podporządkowanej Gnieznu. W drugiej połowie XII wieku w katedrze w Brandenburgu zostaje pochowana polska księżniczka Judyta, córka księcia Bolesława Krzywoustego i żona najstarszego syna margrabiego Albrechta - Ottona. Albrecht zwany "Niedźwiedziem", z Askańskiego Domu, nawiązuje bliski związek z Pribislawem (Henrykiem), księciem Hawelan. Książę umiera bezpotomnie w 1150 roku. Jego kraj przejmuje Albrecht bez walki. Władca Szprewian Jaxa, tytułujący się księciem, uważa siebie za wydziedziczonego krewnego Pribislawa i stara się o sukcesję po nim. Przez „zdradę, przekupstwo, przebiegłość i przemoc, a także z polską pomocą”, udaje się to tylko na krótko. W latach 1154–1157 Brenna, jako część Księstwa Kopanickiego, stanowi lenno polskie. W 1157 r., dochodzi do decydującego konfliktu z Albrechtem. Jaxa przegrywa i chroni się na Śląsku. Umiera w 1168 lub 1178 r. Sukcesora Albrechta I wspiera saska szlachta i arcybiskup magdeburski Wichmann. Wir waren mit Gruppe unterwegs und hatten eine Führung. Der ehemals romanische Bau wurde durch frühgotische Erweiterungen zu einem Ort, wo es sehr viel zu entdecken gibt. Der Altar im Mittelschiff und die Orgel geben dem Hallenbau den Charakter. Man sieht einige Stützpfeiler, die nach dem Umbau nicht mehr gebraucht wird. Die ursprünglich katholische Kirche wurde in der Reformation zu einer evangelisch-lutherischen Zeit. Es gab eine breite Treppe zum oberen Altarbereich, die später in zwei schmalere Teile umgebaut wurden, um dem Altarraum mehr Bedeutung zu geben. Im oberen Teil, dem Chor, befindet sich ein alter Holzschrank für Bischofsgewänder sowie an den Seiten die Bänke für die Honorationen. Auch das südliche Seitenschiff zeigt interessante Dinge.
