My Aunts got married in the Schmitterlings Haus (Butterfly House) of the Botanika. It was a really beautiful place though small. I would have preferred to spend more time inside with the butterflies, which there were a lot of, just flying around. It was the stuff of fairytales: to have butterflies flying around you. We had drinks from the restaurant still in the Botanika but outside the Butterfly house. The staff were very friendly, open and accomodating. Made the whole experience even better. I would love to go back and see more of the Botanika as I'm pretty sure it won't disappoint.

For me the most fascinating thing in this botanic garden was opportunity to feed Koi fishes. They are a lot of fun, not afraid of human, bite in the fingers and eat from the hand. I believe there are special hours to feed the koi fish, so better check ahead. The butterfly house is also quite impressive with a massive amount of butterflies! Rather than that, it is quite small botanic garden.

Nach zwei Jahren war ich heute (01.08.) mal wieder in der botanika. In den meisten Themenwelten war für meinen Geschmack nicht sehr viel los. Die Hauptblütezeit war wohl für sehr viele Pflanzen bereits zu Ende. An einigen Ecken konnte man aber doch ein paar Blüten entdecken und diese auch ausgiebig genießen. Innerhalb der letzten zwei Jahre müssen dann auch die Schmetterlinge umgezogen sein. Die sind jetzt im liebevoll gestalteten Tropenhaus auf noch größerer Fläche zu finden. Ich hatte meine Kamera dabei, die ich am Eingang des Tropenhauses mit einem Handtrocknergebläse etwas erwärmen konnte, damit die Linsen in der tropischen Luft nicht beschlagen. Eine super Idee vom botanika-Team. Bei den Schmetterlingen habe ich mich dann auch circa eineinhalb Stunden aufgehalten und diverse Aufnahmen von den Schmetterlingen gemacht. Dabei bin ich dann auch total durchgeschwitzt. Besonders warm ist es unterm Dach, wo man hingeht, wenn man dem Rundkurs folgt. Alleine der Besuch des Tropenhauses war für mich schon den Ausflug wert.

Many species of trees which you can see from different parts of the world. The monkeys were the main entertainment. You can also put stamps on your "passport" from the places you've visited in the garden. It is also kids friendly because there are some experiments that they can try so they can understand better the nature and how it functions.

One of the highlights of my trip to Germany was the visit to Botanika on the second day. We spent hours here experiencing the fauna and flora and made use of all the information around the venue. We found the staff were especially helpful with recommendations on what to pay attention to and how to best navigate around the different biomes.

Waren am Pfingstmontag in der Botanika unterwegs und können auf jeden Fall eine Empfehlung aussprechen, gerade als Familienausflug. Es gibt eine Mischung aus interessanten Fakten, schöner Natur und vieles zu entdecken. So werden alle abgeholt, denn es ist interessant was über die Pflanzen zu erfahren, aber es gibt genauso im Entdeckungszentrum für die Kleinen was zu entdecken. Wir hatten auf jeden Fall viel Spaß und unser Kleiner ist durch die Gegend gewuselt und fand es spannend. Es hat auch ein wenig was vom Klimahaus aus Bremerhaven, weil jede Region in der Botanika anders aufgebaut ist. In manchen Regionen ist die Luftfeuchtigkeit so hoch, ich fands super umgesetzt. :D Absolutes Highlight ist wohl der Tropenbereich mit den Schmetterlingen. Nehmt eine Kamera mit, es lohnt sich! Nur eine Sache stört wirklich sehr: Die Preise vor der Botanika, wo es was zu Essen gibt. Vor allem für eine kleine Pommes ist 4,50€ schon echt eine Ansage. Nimmt euch vorher was zu essen mit, ansonsten werdet ihr arm.
