A lake with clear turquoise water, with lots of small bays and islets, above which the Zugspitze mountain rises. This is the Eibsee, a glacial lake located in the south of Germany. There is a sandy trail that is less than 7 kilometers long. The path around Eibsee is considered one of the most beautiful walks in Bavaria. It is wide enough, comfortable even for cyclists and suitable for a walk with a stroller. The beginning of the trail is right at the parking lot by the lake. The most beautiful part of the circuit is definitely the northern side of the lake, which offers views of the islets and the Zugspitze mountain.
The entire circuit around the lake can be completed by leisurely walking with stops in about three hours. But I recommend setting aside more time if you want to take a swim, take some photos, and occasionally explore the shores of the lake even off the trail. I can only recommend this, as the main circuit does not run along the shore of the lake all the time. When you turn off it, you often come across small beaches all to yourself, allowing views of islets that you wouldn't have a chance to see from the trail. Just take one of the many small paths branching off from the main path, which will take you to the shore of the lake with a wonderful view.
Unfortunately, the lake is very well famous, and thanks to the easy access by car, it is extremely crowded. Luckily, there are plenty of hidden spots where you can get lost and enjoy this magical place for yourself. Nevertheless, I recommend going here very early in the morning or late in the evening if you want to enjoy the place...

The circle easy-hiking/biking trail is about 8km in length, so it'll take about two hours in leisurely-pace to walk around the lake. It's worth your time and effort to embrace nature. It has some hilly parts, but they are not too bad. We even saw some families with strollers.
If you hike in the morning, you may not be able to see the mountains too clearly (fog, the sun behind the mountains, etc.). If you wait till the afternoon, you may be able to see them clearly, but you'll risk some clouds moving in as it was the case for us. Mountainous weather is very unpredictable for sure.
Unfortunately, it was a little too early to enjoy colorful foliage for us, but you can see the beginning of the change. It was a very nice hike around this enchanting lake. Highly recommended if you are in the area and be able to take some time to enjoy it.
If you drive to this location, parking lot will cost you about $6 (2 hours) or more depending on how much time you spend. I believe all-day parking was about $12, but I just can't...
