Of course it is beautiful, and we had a lovely day in Meissen and visiting this site. My mistake in ordering tickets online without fully realizing the tour was in German not English. I was using the English version of the website and made an assumption. So be careful when you buy tickets online to make sure you have the language correct. The staff at the ticket counter could have helped to fix the mistake, as it was clear we did not speak German and had signed up for a German speaking tour. We still went with the tour and ended up ditching the group and went through the castle on our own. The church was better than the castle. I do not remember the castle being as empty as it was this trip. Beautiful rooms, some painted, etc. Great...

I would say it is enough to view the building from the outside. I hate it when they charge you extra for taking pictures inside, we are already paying entry fee so what the heck? This sets the tone for our mindset when we entered. The interiour is quite kitsch in my view so not worth the pictures anyway except perhaps the dining hall. Since it was used as a porcelain factory all you see is painted stuc walls that look like they were made in the past 30 years or so. The interactive tablet to me was quite distracting and not worth the effort so I stopped using it after the first floor. Short version: it's OK but I wouldn't really have missed it. The Dom is worth your time more...

Simply stunning! I was here 14th February 2015 and what an amazing experience! Just making my way up to the Castle from the station was quite fascinating. Entering this late gothic style monument was breathtaking to say the least. There's so much to take in but my favourites were the porcelain "urns" which pay tributes to how it all started here. There are about five different exhibitions areas with each dedicated to either art works or Royal chambers with unbelievable gothic interior that's just mind blowing! It really pays to spend some time exploring this Castle. There are public lavatory and a café. Great place for kids. Must visit if you are...

The castle from outside looks fantastic. But, I have to say that from the inside, it's pretty empty. Just white walls and some exhibitions to attract the people's attention. But still, there's 4-5 rooms that are well-preserved, and the walls are painted and look amazing. I have to point out that there's no old furniture inside, unlike other castles in Germany that are somehow fully decorated, restored land preserved from INSIDE. 12 Euro is a price and, in my opinion, a bit high for such a place. The best part is outside of a castle, not inside. Thank you. Still was a pleasure to come over.

12€ per person, it has 3 floors to visit, you can see the city from all sides as ot has windows everywhere 😅, it's been refurbished to the smallest details - as in it's too much - it's like a modern building with SOME old parts still visible in the castle's walls. They've exaggerated with the technology they've put inside this place. When you say "CASTLE" you'd expect to see a very old building in extraordinary design and OLD features, it doesn't has that castle feeling/vibe/look. It's just a modern building with SOME items displayed. Hence my 3* review.
