Easy to locate and I saw several parking lots along the way. We parked directly across from the zoo for free. We paid 29€ for a family ticket at the entrance and they take card and cash.

Pros: Grounds were clean. Lots of options for food/drinks/treats throughout the park. I saw one large area for ordering food, and several smaller snack bars. There was a play area for smaller children.

Cons: We encountered quite a bit of construction, which is great if improvements are being made. Most enclosures seemed completely empty, so we didn’t see many animals. The bird area featured a lot of birds with one leg chained to a small line on the ground, and though it wasn’t a hot day the birds didn’t have any where to hide (just a water dish and a small perch). Not a con for our family, but there was a lot of uphill/steep downhill walking and this may not be easy for small children or elderly family members. While I don’t expect the signage to be in my native language, I did find it lacking clear directions on which way to walk/go.

Overall, the animals we did see (only a handful) seemed sad and it felt like we paid 29€ to get a...

I was very impressed by the quality of the Orangutan enclosure. The orangutans inside looked very happy and healthy.

I was very unimpressed by the quality of the baboon enclosure. It looked barbaric and obviously lacked care. The dozens upon dozens of baboons inside ran around in circles against the walls looking both stressed and bored. Several appeared to be injured and majority were not pleased by the screaming children looking down upon them.

As someone with a love and passion for primates, please take better care of these creatures. They might not seem as cute or friendly as our friendly great ape counterparts, but they still deserve to be treated well...

Invited by the grandmother of my daughter, today we were visiting the zoo in Neunkirchen. What can you see there? Tight up owls, falcons and other beautiful birds. A 50 square meter bear cage with the saddest bear I have ever seen, lying on the floor and starring at one point and a face expression like his mom and dad died yesterday. Also there is one seal swimming inside of a swimming pool back and forth. And .... a lot more..

Personally, I will not visit a zoo again, because I don't want to support that kind of business/attractions.

So everyone who loves animals, just don't visit zoos. This review is not specific to this specific zoo, but in general,...

This zoo stands out from the other zoos in the region due to its unique and spacious areas for the animals. It also offers a rare opportunity to see elephants, lions, camels, and Orangutans, which are not commonly found in German zoos. Furthermore, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking bird show from atop a small hill, and experience a unique, almost hiking-like adventure as they explore the hilly terrain - which is still accessible to those in wheelchairs or with small children. The zoo is kept in excellent condition and is always clean. Visitors can also purchase reasonably priced snacks, food, and drinks at multiple locations throughout the park.

I took my toddler to the zoo and we both had a blast. Our favourite part was the falcon show and the bald eagle flew just inches above my head. Almost all of the animals looked healthy (minus one monkey that was missing all of its fur). We had a stroller which was hard to push around some of the steeper parts, but still doable. I had the falcon burger at the kiosk near the falcon show and elephants and it was really good. One of the best burgers I have had in Germany. There was plenty of free parking outside of the zoo and the staff spoke English which was very helpful. I highly recommend this zoo!
