I've had this park on my to-do list for a while, but as I'm usually on my own with three small children under 6, I'm hesitant to visit downtown areas. Finally I made my way here with a friend and her daughter. I had asked on Google maps where to park, and got varied responses, but actually finding any of these places or available spots proved difficult. I'm still not exactly sure where to recommend parking. We ended up parking at the paid lot (by automatic kiosk) on Schaferstrasse, though this required us to cross a busy road before walking down a quiet one to the park entrance, and then still had to walk another 5-10 minutes before reaching the playgrounds. I think if I were to go back, I'd try to park at the IHK, if allowed, as that seemed to have the safest and most direct entry into the park. The park itself is in a fantastic setting - ponds, greenery, trees, and the impressive bridge looming overhead, plus a few garden paths to walk through. The beer garden wasn't open while we were there (nor could we find any information online or on Google Maps as to its hours or precise location, though we figured it was on the patio next to the pond), but there were plenty of spaces to spread out a picnic blanket for a picnic, which we did near the playground. As for the playground itself, it is QUITE impressive. There is a castle-themed playground with tons to do - swings, slides, tunnels, walls to climb, spinners, hammocks, a non-functioning water playground (possibly closed for the season as it was mid-September), and a VERY impressive rope swing that covers quite a distance, as well as a zipline. There are a few sports playing courts, and the path continued on past the playgrounds but we had to leave before we could explore them all. The park was clean, but felt poorly maintained somehow, though I couldn't quite put my finger on it. There were signs for bathrooms, but we couldn't find them (I imagine they might be in the Dynamikum center, which we didn't go into, though that was the direction the signs were pointing). Overall, the park is beautiful, but I imagine it's much better in summer when everything is in bloom and the park is (presumably) being most cared for, and the beer garden is open. If visiting with small children, try to find parking on Frohnstrasse or at IHK itself to avoid crossing busy downtown roads.

Das Gelände des Strecktalparks bis zum Blümelstal ist sehr schön angelegt und erstreckt sich vom Dynamikum bis unter der Strecktalbrücke hindurch. Ein großer Pluspunkt ist das der Parkbesuch kostenlos ist und dennoch ein bisschen was bietet. Mal abgesehen davon, das man schön spazieren kann, gibt es für die jüngeren Generationen und sportlich interessierte, diverse Möglichkeiten sich zu beschäftigen. Unter anderem gibt es eine Skaterbahn, einen Basketballplatz, einen Volleyballplatz und einen kleinen Bolzplatz. Für die jüngeren gibt es einen Wasserspielplatz und einen Spielplatz mit diversen Geräten wie Schaukeln, Rutschen und einer Seilbahn. Ein Highlight ist die Riesenschaukel. Der Park war heute nicht überfüllt, aber dennoch gut besucht und es war sauber. Empfehlenswert ist bei einem Besuch von außerhalb ein Besuch im Dyamikum mit anschließendem Parkbesuch. Leider gibt es keine Eisdiele in unmittelbarer Nähe, das wäre ein super Ausklang. Allerdings ist die Fußgängerzone nicht weit (3 Eisdielen) oder man fährt zum Eiscafe Felder (5 Min mit Auto). Die Jungs (5 und 9) hatten riesen Spaß.

Die Nähe des Strecktalparks zur Innenstadt ist ideal zur Erholung zwischendurch, wer in der nahegelegen Jugendherberge zu Gast ist, sollte einen Ausflug hierher Unternehmen. Am Weiher ist ein kleiner Pavillon mit Sitzmöglichkeiten und Getränke-/ Eisverkauf. Im weiteren Verlauf des Parkes befindet sich ein großzügiger Spielplatz mit Wasser-/Matschbereich, mehreren Rutschen, einer Spiel-Burgruine, Wippe. Unseren Kindern hat auch die Riesenschaukel und die Seilbahn gefallen. Für Disk-Golfer gibt es einen Parkour durch den gesamten Park. Kneipp-Gänger finden ein tolles Becken etwas versteckt am Rand. Eine Skate-Anlage ist ebenfalls vorhanden. Unterhalb des Dynamikums befindet sich dessen öffentlich zugänglicher Außenbereich mit ein paar Exponaten. Am Ende des Parkes, Richtung Blümelstal, befindet sich der Geopark Pfalz mit vielen Beispielen der verschiedenen Steinformationen und Vegetationen in Rheinland-Pfalz. Der Park und die sanitären Anlagen sind sauber.
