Dynamikum Science Center Pirmasens — Attraction in Pirmasens

It's nice enough for kids, but if you already know anything about physics, you're gonna be bored out of your mind. The explanations accompanying the experiments don't go much deeper than "it works" (not to mention the often lacking English translations), not even mentioning the scientific names of certain effects so you could look them up.

In addition, they seem to be slowly running out of money. Despite a recent advertising campaign, there are no new experiments, and everything is slowly but surely deteriorating. Several experiments aren't working properly anymore, and I haven't seen any maintenance work done within the last year.

The new outdoor facilities are still under construction.

I had a hard time deciding between giving this science center three or four stars. I've been here twice with my children, both times in late spring. The first time was quite enjoyable and seemed worth the fairly expensive entry fee despite it being a relatively small science center. The last time was pretty underwhelming. The little food stand and a few experiments were closed for repairs. Additionally, it was hot! I wasn't prepared for it to be so uncomfortably hot and was feeling pretty sweaty and dehydrated by the end of our 2-hour visit.

In the end, I decided to give it 4 stars because of the really fun experiments. Hopefully the admission prices and (maybe additional funding from government?) will help Dynamikum keep everything up and running and fun...

This place was awesome. Even as an adult there are some interesting things to see and do. My kids, who are 2 and 3 years old, also loved it. The parking area is easy to get to and park in. It's only a few Euro if I remember correctly. There is also a small cafe inside with very reasonable prices and an alright selection for how small it is. There's a gift shop as well with a bunch of brain teasers, puzzles and the like. There are some outside things as well, however, it was cold and we were underdressed to go outside.
