Radiantly bright - shining deep under the earth: CENTER FOR INTERNATIONAL LIGHT ART
The collection of the Center for International Light Art Unna in the former Linden Brewery has a model character. Visible from afar through the chimney rising 52 meters into the sky, this contemporary art form has been offering a total of 2,600 square meters of underground space since 2001 deep underground. The museum receives its unique character by concentrating on the installative aspect of light art. Each of the light installations was created especially for the rooms on site and is individually tailored to this location in terms of its aesthetic and technical appearance.

Read moreOne among the best museums I visited so far! Simple and fantastic. So much to see and learn from basic light techniques, very well maintained. The guide was a old lady who did a excellent job by explaining everything so well and patiently. The place is well connected to public transport, and the main station Unna hauptbahnhof is at a walkable distance. There are lockers available free of cost to keep your belongings, English audio guide is available. The German guide takes around 45mins. Not sure about the price as we used our ruhr top card. Read moreVery nice light art installations. Unfortunately, the only way for us to view the collection was through a guided tour. The guided tour was overly long (too long stops at every artwork) and overly explanatory, which gives not much room for your own interpretations of the works of art. Especially in sometimes tiny spaces with too many people. I would recommend to book a ticket on the days when you can freely walk through the museum.
