One of events of a Revolution subsequent to a Mutiny gave birth to Rawlings Car Park. Today is Wednesday the 27th of November, 2019.I am at the Rawlings Park and the time is yet to be 7O'clock in the morning. Accusations and counter accusations brought about ejections and demolitions, the aftermath brought about an area of Accra lying bare. Public opinions brought about the making of this area a Car Park to benefit many; later named after Flight Lieutenant John Jerry Rawlings. In the 1980's Rawlings Park was for private car owners who had come to the Accra business center to do purchasing. No parked cars were expected to overstay. In the early 1980's hedges were in all four(4) sides of Rawlings car park and shade giving trees were planted within. Later block walls(one can see the surface of park from outside) were made alongside the hedges which were also later removed. It was satisfying to see private car owners do parking easily and go out to see to private needs in the 1980's. In the early 1990's came in Taxis occupying a small area facing the Methodist Book Depot. In the late 1980's a restaurant was built not far from the Main Gate/Entrance which also serves as a Controlling Office. The restaurant was called Akosua Agyepong Restaurant and also later had another called Okumkom Restaurant. Being outside and on the street earlier on, I saw a lot of tables many chained together leaning against the car park walls and refuse heaped on two(2) portions of street but refuse collection trucks came for them in the early morning. There is a total is nine(9) Entrances and four(4) of them facing the Ghana Post Office (GPO) direction has alongside EXISTS. In the late 1990's trucks started having a parking Space. Back in the 1990's the Accra Metropolitan Assembly(AMA) guards were interested in activities of the car park. In the year 2010 onwards the car park has become congested on both cars and human activities. There is many social and business activities within the Rawlings car park presently. As an individual, it is very easy to go into the Car Park and also very, very easy same coming out. Tro-tro vehicles have a station inside and I saw a number of them do an in transit activities. There are four(4) public places of convenience (washroom) each strategically placed. There is Side Walk to each Gate. The North end side car parking space seem to have a premium and I took a photo of a red car and a banner under a shaddy tree -THE GIRLS BEAUTY SALON- being at an entrance created with structured metal stands. I observed that the waatse sellers at the both Gate side are st a business competition likewise the second hand clothes sellers at the Makola Market side direction of car park. The south side direction have stationery, north side have cloths sellers, the east and Makola side have fashion related sellers and GPO side have cloths(GTP,ATL), book stores and Agric Development and Barclays banks. Iam nearly overwhelmed by business activities and by 8:00am I realized I was away and going in the direction of the...
