Water and sand are wonderful, nature is beautiful, parking is horrific, so much stress crossing the road by foot towards the bathrooms - you risk being hurt by crazy drivers, no improvement made to the peninsula from year to year in terms of roads, safety marking them, providing light while driving at 9 p.m when it gets darker in August,no protection at the side of the road - stones .I returned here several years and the only thing that changed are the prices which go up.At least this is the very first year in which I can sit with my umbrella and towrl in the free beach area without the Soul's Beach Bar crazy old owner and his son yelling in greek, harrassing other people and threatening to beat other people if things are not going their way-that can be called a small improvement. In front of every beach bar, even Monato where you did not have this sort of behaviour, you will see a Greek man yelling even at people who want to park in the free spots! You wouldn't have the nerves stretched out if the beach was free to begin with. Suggestion: keep sunbeds on a smaller part of the beach - you don't have to fill the whole length with sunbeds - , then you would be able to provide faster and nicer service to the people, without yelling in the summer vacation, without screaming, without eyes rolled out.You have at least 100 meters of sunbeds at 50 euros unoccupied, so much greed.Sell them for cheaper or leave the space unoccupied for activities, people are playing voleyball near the sunbeds since they have no empty space anywhere. It is nature, you don't have to transform the beach into a city, you don't have to be overworked, owners don't have to constantly yell at people trying to find a spot. It is much easier to have a business where 2 sunbeds cost 30-50 euros and you don't actually do much for those money, that is why you don't see more business people moving towards restaurants and providing better service. But again, it makes no sense to occupy so much space on the beach just to scorch empty overpiced sunbeds all summer long. And yes there are all sort of tourists, but in the years here I can tell you for sure, after you pay for the tolls on the highways and get to a normal road in Greece: most tourists that do not respect the Stop sign while driving had Greek license plates. Most tourists that decided to make a U turn at Kathisma narrow road near the parking, centimeters away from tourists passing by foot, have Greek license plates. Every half an hour there is a "Are you ready?Hakuna Matata.Bumshakalaka" person trying to sell you bracelets.Booking a place to stay has gone considerably pricier, reaching a segment where you get to pay so much to sleep in a place, and you don't get too many eating places with service in the corresponding segment of price. You overcharge on stays all over the island - more than once I have been deceived by Photos and Description you post on Booking - and you want the same people who pay higher price to be ok with subpar service - and you can see highly rated places where even Greeks complain about service and specify this is not Greek hospitality.Every tavern every place asks you were are you from, even though they do not speak the language. If I eat 2 times per day in the city, 10 days, do you think this is a question to be answered constantly before you are hungry? Don't get me wrong, if we have a pleasant conversation and it leads to this question, I answer of course, but otherwise it feels like filling a mandatory questionaire everywhere.Same sunbeds and same umbrellas as last year are 50-100% pricier.Why?60 euros per day for 4 persons only for sunbeds.600 euros in 10 days without drinks - just to sit on the beach under an umbrella, after 14-15 hours of driving? Additional price for any sort of consumption, not included in the sunbeds price... and it is so hot that believe me we spent already that...
Read moreOne of the most beautiful beaches in Lefkada. It is very long and wide. It is surrounded by mountains but there is no danger for rocks falling down on the beach as they are a bit further. Thr beach has public free parking, but take care as there are people trying to redirect you to private parkings. Cost is not that high, around 5-10 Euro/day for a car. There are sunbeds and umbrellas that can be rented but also plenty of space to put your towel on the beach. The beach is not with sand but with really small peebles. Many restaurants are near the beach. Several lifeguards surveillance the water, but better not to need them. The beach is really clean. Take care when you go in the water as it gets deep really close from the shore. The road to get to this beach is pretty good. It is tight in some areas, especially in the curves. And there are many curves from the top of the mountain to the water level. A bus station (from and to Lefkada city) is located in the proximity of the beach. During the day is very crowded here. Better to arrive in the early morning or in the afternoon. Lots of wind surfers (paragliding) come down on the beach from the...
Read moreThe best beach on Lefkada!
The beach is not just pebbles, which is great in my opinion (I don't like pebbles, I much prefer sand).
There are enough sunbeds if you want to lay down and they can bring you food from one of the restaurants on the other side of the road. The Greek Salad we had there was, to my great surprise, the best one we tasted during our 2 week stay on the Ionian Islands.
The water is crystal clear and if you're like me and want a little adventure - there are a few very nice big rocks in the water where you can climb and jump off them.
There are also watersports and paragliding as well, which looked amazing and the guys flying were doing some awesome stuff - barrel rolls, loops, etc.
We were there in September and there was no problem with parking even though we went there around 11 o'clock. I can see how that could be a problem in high season though. Still, I recommend going there in September not just because of less people but because the temperature is perfect - it's still hot but not scorching like in...
