We visited this museum on our last day in Lesvos and found it to be a place of remarkable determination and devotion. Learning about Teriade, his life, and his works was truly enriching. The museum is nestled in a garden surrounded by old olive trees, creating a captivating atmosphere from the moment we arrived. The lady at the reception was friendly and provided us with helpful information about what to expect inside.
It was also a pleasure to see some of Theophilos' artwork displayed in one of the galleries on the first floor.
However, there's one area where the museum could improve. While all the explanations were in French and Greek (likely due to the significant French influence on Teriade), it would have been beneficial to have English translations as well. The exhibition is really well organized (and inexpensive!), and it’s really easy to follow given the way the paintings are presented and organized.
The size of the museum is fairly small and doesn’t required a lot of time, however if you love art you can easily spend two hours going through the publications, the paintings, and their stories.
