The beach and water is really nice and the facilities are mostly clean. The facilities have been stripped of most useful things, the service is very bad and the cost increases are unreasonable.
The beach used to be more user/family friendly and green. They removed the greenery, trees and made two basketball courts...which I like basketball BUT it costs 10 € an hour per person extra and you removed any space where family could congregate as a larger group (ie, when it's not a couple going but a family).
I was there in late August and found the chairs/umbrellas less than half filled when there were tourists pouring out of every surrounding beach. Entrance fee is 15-20 € per person but includes nothing barring the use of the toilet/shower. There is no physical space to use the beach without chairs/you needing to sit at the bar.
They ran out of granitas 2 of the times we were there...and given how quintessential that experience is for Greek kids in this context, that should never happen.
On top of costs, waitstaff is very slow and terrible on the beach. I was there on 15, 21, 23 and 26th of August and it took half an hour to pay for the umbrellas each time never mind getting a drink or food. Half of the vendors were closed or the menus were filled with items that they were out of stock with.
They removed almost all of the spigots that could wash your feet (that were convenient and over different parts of the beach) and have made showers instead in one central location away from half of the beach population so you have to be strategically in one place. Most people don't want to take full open showers at the beach and it makes leaving and going to your car a sandy mess.
They removed the trash bins at the chairs and the staff do not grab your trash, they expect you to bus your own trash after they bring you food to the chairs, which makes no sense. Either have service and bus the product you serve (have people throw stuff away) or have a self service model (like snack bar) and have more trash/recycling services around for people to do that.
They don't have any watersports onsite (they used to), you have to call an external vendor and schedule a time to do any of the stuff which is very lame.
In general, if they were going for up-market that's fine, increase the entrance cost but don't make people feel like they are paying every second you can. The modular cost model makes the experience not great.
Overall, I'm only there because it is walking distance of where I happen to stay. If you are driving, go to Vouliagmeni or most of the beaches on the other side all the way...
Read moreExpensive entrance, even on a week day. Upon entry we were told the seating was complimentary. We asked again to verify, and they repeated that ALL seating was complimentary. We find seating on the beach only to be approached by a man stating that the front seats were for those who spend 50 euro or above at the bar and anything behind them are for those who spend 30 euro at the bar in addition to entry. We move to a section they deemed "complimentary" only to be told those seats were reserved and would be held by the individuals who supposedly reserved them for 10 euros extra until around noon. We asked what it takes to reserve seating, out of curiosity, and he offered for us to call a lady to check if those were available to reserve regardless of having just told us they were reserved for that timeframe. The whole operation is either extremely sketchy and they pocket the money off the patrons, or they try to see if they can make an extra buck trying to convince people to reserve the "complimentary" seating. We were forced to move again. In the end, no one ever showed up and we were told we couldn't stay in the seats until the people who reserved said seating showed up because it would trouble the other patrons. We let them know they should have better communication at the front entrance and he simply said, "that's the front, and I'm here. It's not their job." If I could give 0 stars I would. We've been coming for SEVERAL years and this is by far the worst it's ever been. We speak fluent Greek, so imagine what tourists have to deal with or how much they take advantage of tourists... Also, there are several boats constantly parked in the water there. Save your money and go to...
Read more12.5 for weekday entrance + sunbed from 2nd row (excl cabana). Added 5 eur for 1st row seats. Easy to get one even if u arrive by 10am in August. Clear water, shallow up till 50m, at most 4 feet etc. Nice sand under water, no other things at all, no fish, urchin, rubbish. But after 50m there seems to be mud down there with the sand so it sticks your feet a bit, just avoid them. Overall it‘s great for sunbath and float in water. Noticed more ppl reading a book there than other beaches in Alimos or Voula, etc. Quiet light music in the morning, switched to rock ones by 3-4pm. Got Goody‘s inside with usual choices.
