Amazing natural pool with a breathtaking view. It is easy to get in the lagoon. It is a bit difficult to get out, but with a little help it is managable. Not many tourists get inside which is good because it keeps the water clean. Don't bring umbrellas and sea-chairs because there is no place to put them. The area is rocky. Nobody stays for long time because it isn't a beach. I take a star down because THERE is a road to get close to the lagoon but the "bussinessman" who bought the area have closed the road only to get through their taverns and their coffee shops to spend your money. So you have to walk down a 20-minute road. There are two options. Follow the yellow sign "Giola" or you can follow the blue sign "Giola vibes". Both ways get you to the lagoon. You just pass through the tavern or the coffee shop. Don't park in the parking area because it is not free. You can park for free anywhere among the olive trees. TIP from a local: Don't park on the cement street because the police checks the area every 2 hours and gets the car plates if you have parked on the...
Read moreBe careful do not jump off the very high cliff to Giola if the water isn't clear and you don't know how the bottom of the pool looks like. Make sure you know where a large stones are on the bottom before you make a jump from the highest point. As there is a few flat masive stones that you might hit accidently and that could be tragic. The water is deep but it can be very dangerous. My husband jumped off the highest point and kneed on one of these flat stones on the bottom of the pool. Luckily ended up only with some cuts. I dont even want to imagine someone going head first. Please be careful. I would check the bottom first before making a jump. Othervise very busy place, there is no shadow to hide from the sun so be prepared for that. Don't forget to take a bottle of water with you. Very nice place but not easy accessible. You can get there by car or ATV but if you are going by car there will be a bit of walk down to the pool. You can get a bit...
Read moreThere is no entrance fee. Best to go there when everyone is heading back home. We went there around 19:30 (August 2023) and people were clearing out but the lagoon was still crowded. Thanks to that, we had no trouble getting down with our off-road car and we could also find a parking space in the second parking lot.
There are two free parking areas. First one is easy to reach and there is plenty of space. The second one is really close to Giola but it’s a rough ride, the roads are really narrow and there are not much space. If you don’t have an off-road vehicle, leave your car in the first parking lot. If you do have one, you are lucky because you don’t have to walk through the steep hill!
There is a cafe close to the lagoon but it closes around 7 pm. Better come down with a backpack full of refreshments. Also, there is no place to change your clothes. Wearing sea shoes is highly...
