This is a must see if you're in Guatemala. We stayed in Flores and did the afternoon sunset tour. Transport from Flores was 120 GTQ, we left at 12pm. Tickets to the park were 250 GTQ as the sunset tour costs 100 GTQ extra (you're in the park later than official closing time). You also have to have a guide for the sunset tour. You will need GTQ cash to buy the entrance tickets, no cards or USD. Our hostel managed to get these for us in advance but we were the only ones - everyone else on the tour had to get off the bus at the entrance and buy the tickets (which seemed to be no hassle).

Took about an hour and a half to get there and got back to Flores around 8.30pm. It rained a lot while we were there, but it was hot. I was glad to have trekking sandals (some of the paths had flowing water on them by the time we were leaving!) and light clothes. Picked up a plastic poncho there for 20 GTQ.

Thought it might be busy for the sunset tour but it wasn't. I heard you might see more animals for the sunrise tour. Unfortunately it was too cloudy to see the sunset but I still thought the place...

As you enter the Lost World complex you first see the Talud-Tablero-style pyramid which is both imposing and a testament to Tikal's relations with Teotihuacan. What you don't realize is that its at least 400 years older than Temples 1,2,3 and 4. a little while later as you move through the former plaza, which is littered with semi-restored and unrestored structures, you will run into the Lost World Pyramid also known as the Great Pyramid. This pyramid is taller than El Castillo of Chichen Itza. It, like other pyramids, can be accessed via a wooden stairway. There is probably the best view of Temple 4...
