Sark is a strange, sad place, suffering from the effects of changing patterns of tourism, depopulation and the effects of the Barclay brothers. The high street is a depressing place, with a lot of unoccupied shops. We had a bit of a struggle/walk to find a cup of tea. The charity shop supporting the local health service is a gem. The Senieurery (?spelling) is the place for lunch. Houses and hotels are falling into dereliction. Read moreLovely trip to beautiful island. Atmosphere somewhat spoiled by the rude a curt attitude displayed by tall mature lady serving (or not!) at the house of the Seignour. Can forgive not being able to get food or drink at a cafe (!)because they have a large pre-booked choir visiting, but that is not excuse for such a rude reception. The best way to get about is bike, hire online in advance - all bikes were already booked when we arrived. We had a day trip there on a Saturday.
