In my opinion this is the best food on Sark and open for one season only at the moment. Nathalia and James have really thrown a ton of energy into Time and Tide to get it up and running for this season and since opening I've eaten there a minimum of once a week - one week going 4 times.
There is a wide variety of food choices and so many are locally sourced. Starter you have to try are the Macaroni Cheese bites and the Beef nuggets (fall apart crumb parcels of beef - amazing - like a mini roast dinner in a bite size starter). Thai fish cakes are great as well along with bread and the home made houmous.
For mains I stumbled on the double double burger and haven't looked back - the meat is from Sark beef and the bacon are slabs with melted cheese, proper relish and skinny fries - it is so good and I have had it over 10 times and the quality is the same every time.
Other mains we have tried include macaroni cheese, Tomahawk steak (massive and succulent beef for 2/3 people at £62), vegan burger (nice and spicy), mussels which are big and plump, Beet salad full of fresh produce and meatballs. All prepared really well and the portions are filling.
Time and Tide is in the middle of town with seating inside and out. We often start outside and then move inside for dinner - space permitting.
There are some Sark wines and cider to try - the latter comes in a ceramic cup and has a great taste.
I only wish I knew you'd be here next year for...
Read moreWe were extremely hungry after a long hike on the South Island. Tide & Time was recommended to us, and I got the last table. The service was attentive and efficient. We were immediately given the menu, which included seafood, steaks, starters, and desserts, all very varied. The recommended wines were excellent (we had a Sancerre from France). The starter was a delicious mackerel terrine, and for the main course, we had lobster; my partner had monkfish – both excellent with delicate sauces. For dessert, we shared a cheese platter, also very delicious. The restaurant has plenty of space. The decor is clean and not as tacky as in many restaurants, making it pleasant. However, the room is a bit circular – some guests were loud, and the acoustics weren't dampened. Some curtains or plants in the room would help. Overall, it was great; I highly...
Read moreMy wife and I have been travelling through Europe for the past 5 weeks and eaten at many fine restaurants. Last night here on the tiny Channel island of Sark we were treated to our best dining experience by far. Decor is simple but fresh and inviting. Service was friendly, succinct and accurate. But the food is what really sets this establishment apart. Our two friends from Guernsey and I ordered the Grillard comprising 3 portions of different local fish, King prawns, scallops and steamed vegetables, all cooked to perfection. Karen ordered fillet steak with pepper sauce. It was cooked medium well done as she requested yet was incredibly tender. Chef Aidan took the time to chat with his guests after their meals to seal a most memorable evening. Highly...
