Turul Monument — Attraction in Tatabányai járás

Beautiful sunset view, and you can see the whole city of Tatabánya from here. "Open 24 hours" is for real! I often jog up and down the steps around midnight. See the city lights. You can drive up with your car, or go with your bike, and then coast downhill on your way back. There's also a backway, to go up the steps. It's a total of 130 steps from the small residential road to the Turul madár, and an extra 40 steps +/- from the main road. It's not really all that far, but the way up the steps is steap, so it looks longer and farther than it actually is. You can jog up and down, including stopping for a view, all within 1 hour or less. There's a nice restaurant at the top. In the summer months, there is free running water at the summit, where the Turul madár also is, but the water spout is turned off around mid-autumn to avoid the pipes bursting during the winter freeze. Don't forger to leave extra time to visit the neanderthal cave, and bring your own firewood if yoi want to make a campfire. There are 5 or so campfire spots to choose from for your group. Fantasztikus az Európa szerte legnyagyobb fémmadarat ábrázoló Turul madár szobor látványa a Tatabánya Bánhida részén a kőhegyen, melyet a 907-es Bárhidai csata emlékére emelték 1907-ben. A mondák védelmező madara a magyarság harci jelképe is volt..

A hegy tetején ingyenes parkoló várt minket, ahol szerencsére találtunk helyet a nagy látogatói forgalom ellenére.

25 éve nem jártam erre, pedig sűrűn látom az autópályáról. Ez idő alatt nagy meglepetésemre rengeteget változott a környezet. A parkolonál ami talán 200 méterre lehet az emlékműtől egy olcsónak nem mondható étterem található.

A Tutulhoz vezető téren Büfé, és fagyizó is belyet kapott a játszótér és jó pár asztal-pad és asztal-szék kombóval egyetemben.

Sokan elférnek itt akik itt szándékoznak elfogyasztani az elemózsiájukat. Lehet itt sütögetni vagy éppen bográcsozni is a 3-4 erre kialakított helyen.

Innen apró kövekkel leszórt tanösvényen lehet eljuti a közeli csodás Szelim lyukhoz és a kb 1,5km re levő kilátóhoz. A barlanghoz 2 útvonalon lehet eljutni. Ha a lépcsőn mentek le, akkor nem kell teljesen lemenni, hanem pár lécsőforduló után jobbra a hegy oldalában van egy kis ösvény, ahol szakadék mellett lehet eljutni a barlanghoz. Nincs kitáblázva! Ezen mentünk mi is kis gyerekkel együtt. Óvatosan, kézenfogva túlélhető. A másik a tanösvény ami akár nagyobb kerekű babakocsival is megközelíthető, viszont a barlanghoz nem lehet lemenni vele, de a kilátóhoz igen.

A büfében hotdog, hamburger, sült krumpli, és egyéb általános büfében fellelhető élelem rendelhető. ( a hambugerben NEM gyorséttermes vékonyságú húst kapunk!! :-)) )

Gyerekekkel is látogatható program ahol egy egész napot is el lehet tölteni, ha szeretünk túrázni. Mi fél napot töltöttünk el, de...
