We were on our way to Bulgaria and were looking for a hotel in or near Tatabanya. Calling at a petrol station we were directed to Hotel Arpad. We booked in and were impressed by the reception staff who were kind, courteous and spoke fluent English. Our room was spacious, cable TV, wifi, valuables safe and a very clean bathroom. What more could we wish for. As it was about 9.00pm the restaurant was about to close and were advised to use the local restaurant 200 metres along the road. On our return to the hotel we were greeted by the thump, thump, thump from the disco bar which I understand is on the first floor. Our room was on the third floor and the noise and vibration from the disco could be heard and felt through our pillows. This was unacceptable and I went to reception to see if the problem could be rectified. It could not, and the hotel got another hotel for us at midnight and paid for a taxi to and from the new hotel. Do not stay here on a Saturday night because of the disco music which plays until 5.00am. We were not the only people complaining that night.||The reception staff did their best, we could...
Read moreStayed for one night while traveling on business in the area. It was a last minute trip, and pretty much everything else in the surrounding area were all booked up; hence we picked this hotel. Paid 50 EUR for one night. ||||The rooms are extremely dated - think 1960's. There is no air conditioning or fans so we had to open the windows for ventilation. There are two beds in the room but they are quite small...definitely less than 3 feet wide each. Bathroom was small but functional - hot water in the shower with decent pressure. ||||The walls are very thin. At around 9pm a large group of tourist (40-50 people) arrived via coach bus, and every bit of their conversation could be heard inside the rooms. Also, they started smoking and we can smell it from our room.||||Did not try out breakfast. The large tour group was already heading down to the restaurant and I did not want to bother with the line up. Check out was quick...
Read moreI stayed in the Arpad hotel for two nights during my business trip. The only positive topic was having a bed for the night. In comparison to the situation a few years ago, situation was decreasing dramatically. The restaurant is closed and you cannot get an meal for lunch or dinner. Breakfast is available but on poor quality and everything is dirty in the breakfast room. Windows are so dirty that you even don't have a view outside. Furnitures on the balcony are crashed and dirty and are an affront to teh guests to show them. The room is dirty as well, the drawers and case is full of dust inside that i cannot take my clothes there. ||You should avoid this hotel and search for...
