We visited all three, the Vök Baths, Myvatn Nature Baths and Geosea. Geosea was our 2nd best visit. You get a discount with a valid student ID card which got us an acceptable price for admission. Unfortunately it was not able to combine the 10% discount you get with your whale watching ticket with the student pricings, but I already thought so, so it wasn’t a big suprise. Nevertheless, unfortunate because this weren’t stated anywhere. The bath is very modern and overall very clean. As far as I could see, there is a private changing room but no private shower in the men’s area. The pools were nice and warm with an absolutely amazing infinity view over the sea in front of Husavik. The sunset behind the mountains was very scenic. Cocktails at the pool bar are okay for the price (not too expensive for Iceland, but served from a can). Unfortunately the pool area in front of the pool bar is very small, so you can’t just get your drink and swim back to the nice view, you need to get out, take stairs and go back down in the other pool. The water is salty (it’s sea water) and there is absolutely no sulfuric smell, which was very good.
At the exit we were charged too much in the first place as there were still drinks on the bracelet we didn’t order (most likely from the visitors that wore the bracelet before us). However, the staff is incredibly kind and helpful and we were able to sort out the issue in no time.
In total I‘d give 3,5 stars, especially in comparison with Vök Baths which is a strong...
Read moreThe infinity view from the new geothermal sea baths is breathtaking, and it filled me with such serenity soaking in the hot sea baths overlooking the sea. From the sea baths, you overlook Skjálfandaflói bay and the North-Atlantic, where you can watch boats and ships sail by.
And sea-birds fly by as the sea baths are located on the edge of the Húsavíkurhöfði cliffs 49 metres above sea level. Many of the boats I spotted were whale watching boats, but Húsavík, being the whale watching capital of Iceland (some even say of Europe), offers many whale watching tours on Skjálfandaflói bay, where you can spot many different species of whales. Minke whales are frequently spotted here together with the playful Humpback whales. Orcas and the cute White-beaked dolphins are also spotted here just to name a few of the whales in the bay. And even the Blue whale, the biggest animal on earth, is spotted regularly on Skjálfandaflói bay. Iceland and the Azor islands are the only places in Europe, where the Blue whale comes so close to the coast, and it has been spotted here on Skjálfandaflói...
Read moreI will begin with being very accurate. You will be paying to bathe in warm pools and a jacuzzi. Nothing more. No swimming, no slides, nothing more than that. €40+ each for a bath with friends. So quite expensive for what it boils down to. It is massively cheaper than some of the other places like Blue Lagoon etc. but at the same time this is a fairly small man-made pool. That said, the views during daylight hours are fantastic (but can be seen for nothing by standing/walking outside). So why 4 stars from me? The place is well run and the staff are very friendly. The use of electronic wrist bands to control everything from access to paying your bar tab is great. It is clean and the dressing rooms are nice and dry. Lockers are provided. There is a walk up bar that you can get to directly from the water and you get to lounge around and drink cold drinks in the warm pools. The drinks are fairly expensive but there is a captive audience so you expect that. I would go again if somebody else wanted to, but I wouldn't be the one...
