A very peaceful place at the coast of west Iceland. There is a short hike up to the lighthouse. The view from up the small hill is extraordinary. You can see the whole city, at the opposite side, you can see islands. The rock formation of the small hill is also marvelous. We were there in February, and the stairs were covered with hard ice. It was very tough to climb up but we didn't miss the opportunity. It was raining a little and when we got up, the sun started shining and we were welcomed by a rainbow above the lighthouse. It...

We stoped here after we got off our ferry from the Westfjords. It is a nice marked path for a small hike to this lighthouse with steps along the way. Plenty of free parking, some spots say they will tow after 30 minutes but I don’t think you will need more than 30 minutes to make it to the top and down. There is a small walk you can do around the cliffs if you like. At the top you will have a great view of the sea and the town. The bright red of this lighthouse makes amazing pictures with the backdrop. It is well worth the...

If you are scrolling my reviews you will notice a common theme...I love lighthouses! Whenever I travel I do my best to add more to my visited list. This one is a cute little spark plug like style set up on a bluff point. It was windy as heck the day we visited and being up there, I cant even begin to imagine the abuse this little light suffers during winter storms. Its amazing that its still standing as a beacon for mariners after all these years. Pretty spot, free parking, and quick visit. Can be done in 20...

A beautiful area on the northern coast of Iceland, Near the Peninsula. While I find the light houses and Iceland not nearly as pretty as those in New England, the views from the cliff are quite beautiful, with the rock formations, etc. It is about a 20-30 minute drive north of the Ring Road. Debra, if you go there, between the drive there and back and spending about 30 minutes at the White House, I will take you about 1 1/2 hours. The only problem in Iceland is that there is so much to see and never enough time!
