We recently stayed at this hotel and overall, it was a great experience. The location is excellent, making it easy to explore the surrounding area.
The hotel itself is cozy and well-equipped with all the amenities needed for a relaxing stay. The staff are exceptionally welcoming and helpful—they even send a detailed welcome email before arrival with useful information, which really helps make check-in smooth.
Our room, while not particularly spacious, was perfectly designed to maximize comfort. It was clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for a pleasant stay.
Breakfast was varied, delicious, and well-prepared. However, one downside was how rushed we felt towards the end of the breakfast period. A staff member repeatedly reminded us that breakfast ended at 10 AM, starting around 9:40 AM, almost like a countdown. We completely understand the need to respect the timing, but guests should be able to enjoy their meal without feeling pressured to finish in a hurry well within the allotted time.
One unique and special feature of the hotel is the chapel incorporated into the building. Whether you’re a religious person or not, it’s well worth a visit. It’s a peaceful and serene spot, perfect for taking a few quiet moments to reflect and unwind after a long day...
Read moreI made a booking with this hotel back in 2019 but COVID happened and travel was suspended. However, to support these business during these times, I opted to postpone my visit instead of withdrawing my reservation. I was unable to plan a trip back to Iceland since then due to travel restrictions and school commitment until 2023. However, when I reached out to the hotel, they replied that the postponement is no longer valid and have not replied to any of my subsequent emails when I tried to seek clarification. No doubt that the postponement came 3 years late, but there was no mention of a "validity" period back then. In fact, I did not face this issue with other hotels that I made similar arrangements with. The lack of accountability on their part is truly disappointing and if there truly was a validity clause, that it should have been communicated at the start. Attached are screenshots sent by the...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed here the night we arrived by ferry boat from the West Fjords. It’s literally a two minute drive when getting off the boat, and easy to find. Keep in mind it is a “religious” hotel with Sunday mass at the location, but they host guests of all religions or none at all. No reason to feel uncomfortable about this. We found the hotel to be quiet, inviting, and clean, though the room we had was quite small with no view since it looked over the temporary parking in front of the lobby. The bathroom was perhaps the smallest and plainest we had of all hotels we stayed at in Iceland, and had almost no sink space. So keep that in mind if 2+ people are staying in the room. I liked the buffet breakfast, and the breakfast room is huge for a hotel this size. Didn’t feel cramped at all, compared to many other hotel breakfast rooms. The selection is good, including a sweet tasting herring...
