Tucked away in the scenic embrace of Iceland, Skippers is a hidden culinary port that has locals and travelers alike raving about their catch. The fish and chips here aren't just a meal; they're a revelation. My companions and I, having heard the siren songs of Skippers' famed dish, succumbed to the temptation and were rewarded with a dish that perfectly balanced crispy batter and flaky fish, escorted by a parade of equally crispy fries.
Our adventure didn't stop at the main course; we indulged in the fiery kick of jalapeño poppers and the indulgent melt of mozzarella sticks. Delivered with impressive swiftness, the food's arrival was as prompt as it was delectable.
The server, with a smile as genuine as the Icelandic air, made us feel like regulars from the moment we stepped through the door. Their service was not just friendly; it was like a warm embrace in the chill of the Nordic breeze.
The ambiance of Skippers added to the dining experience - cozy yet sophisticated, with subtle lighting that cast a welcoming glow over the well-appointed furnishings. It was the kind of atmosphere that encouraged lingering conversations and savored moments.
Skippers, indeed, scores a resounding five stars. Not just for its exceptional fare but for creating a dining experience that felt both elevated and intimate—a true gem in Iceland’s vibrant food scene.

Read moreSkippers is a pretty cool bar-restaurant! It’s quite small but very cozy. We went there for lunch on a Sunday, as it was one of the few places open in the area. The menu is simple — they only serve burgers, chicken salad, fish & chips, and a few kids’ dishes.
Even so, they offer a good variety of burgers. We ordered the Camembert and the Bacon ones. If you go for the Camembert, keep in mind it comes with Camembert bites rather than Camembert around the patty. All burgers come with fries 🍟 and a dip of your choice, which we really appreciated.
The quality of the burger meat was excellent, which we really liked. However, the waiting time was quite long , which kept our experience from being a full 5⭐. Everything else was great — nice atmosphere, friendly and smiling staff 😊, and everything was very clean. If you can’t finish your meal, you can also take it...

The menu is different from their website (no seafood soup or catch of the day, which is what we wanted when coming here).
The place was either understaffed or was just unprepared - empty tables weren’t cleaned for a while, they ran out of ingredients for half their menu (ketchup, salmon, bacon), and it took 40 minutes for us to get our water when it came with the food even after asking multiple times for it.
The food was mediocre at best and classically overpriced. While eating we noticed new guests being turned down even though it was 1.5 hours before their 10pm close and half the tables were empty (but not cleaned after guests left).
Just a weird experience. Staff definitely seemed...
