Gandhi Hill, the first Gandhi memorial in India on a hillock, is a major tourist spot in Vijayawada. Situated at a height of 500 ft, this Gandhi memorial with seven stupas was constructed to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation. The 52 ft tall Gandhi stupa is the major attraction here, unveiled by Dr. Zakir Hussain, the then President of India, on 6th October 1968. Gandhi Memorial Library, with good collection of books; a Sound and Light show, depicting the life of Mahatma Gandhi; and a planetarium are other attractions here. A toy train ride around the hill is a favorite among the kids. In addition, the inscriptions of Gandhi’s teachings on stone slabs are truly inspiring. The panoramic view of the Vijayawada city as seen from the Gandhi Hill is an added attraction here.

The Gandhi Hill (elevation 500 ft (150 m)) is a hill in Vijayawada, situated behind the Vijayawada railway station in the Tarapet area. A Gandhi Memorial, built on this hill, is the first in the country to have seven stupas. A great monument as a token of respect and memory about Gandhi ji. It's very near to railway station from platform no: 10 way. Vehicles are allowed inside (above the hill) and fare need to be paid by cash. Earlier steps way is there which was destroyed now. Monument, small canteen, kids play ground will be there. Public toilets are there but were not in use. A small train facility is there in which they take us around the hill for a while for which we need to pay in cash.
