Peaceful and Clean – One of South Goa’s Best Kept (Still) Quiet Beaches
Benaulim Beach is a fantastic choice if you're looking for a clean, relaxed, and relatively uncrowded beach experience in South Goa. It doesn’t have the chaos of North Goa or even the increasing buzz of Palolem — instead, it offers a calm, slow-paced atmosphere that's ideal for long walks, sunset watching, and laid-back beach days. The beach itself is wide, flat, and clean, with soft golden sand and gentle waves. It’s safe for swimming, and there are lifeguards stationed at intervals. It’s also less commercialised than some of the more famous beaches, which means you can still enjoy a bit of peace and space even during the tourist season. During weekdays or early mornings, it can feel like you have the whole beach to yourself. What makes Benaulim special is its balance — you get enough shacks and beachside cafes to enjoy good food and drinks, without it feeling overrun. Martin's Corner and Pedro’s are local favourites for seafood and Goan dishes, but there are smaller beach shacks right on the sand offering fresh grilled fish, cold beer, and warm hospitality. Prices are fair, and service is generally friendly and unhurried. There’s also a main market area about 5-10 minutes away with shops, pharmacies, supermarkets, and ATMs, so it’s easy to stock up if you're staying nearby. The access road to the beach is smooth and scooter-friendly, with decent parking at the end. That said, Benaulim isn’t the place for nightlife or party vibes — if that’s what you’re after, head to Colva or North Goa. Also, you won’t find many adventure water sports here compared to other beaches, but that’s part of its charm. It’s a beach for peace, not thrill-seeking. In summary, Benaulim is perfect if you're after clean surroundings, calm waters, delicious food, and a peaceful vibe. It’s a great spot for families, couples, and solo travelers who want to unwind without feeling too isolated.
One star off just because it might feel too quiet for some, and there's not much happening after dark. Still, one of South Goa’s underrated gems and well...

This beach is almost hidden from the large crowds that surge through the North Goan beaches and in spite of having a considerable fishing industry, tourists aren't aware of it. The weather here is much like other places in Goa with hot summers, pleasant winters and torrential monsoons. One thing that makes Benaulim stand out from other Goan beaches is how clean and calm it is.
Benaulim Beach is so clean because it is away from the noisy crowds that we normally associate Goa with. There are several kilometres of just smooth white sand with a few fishing trawlers scattered here and there. Although most of the time, Benaulim is a quiet paradise, it does tend to get a little crowded in the evenings as tourists come to enjoy the west-coast Indian sunset. The beach also tends to get crowded during the weekends.
Being far away from the energy of the city, time works differently on Benaulim Beach, and this place gives tourists the perfect getaway.
