Beach Resort — Hotel in Goa

Two stars only for the maintenance of the place. Otherwise highly unprofessional people. Very rude housekeeping department and 95% times do not answer calls. Reception initially seems alright to talk to but later once you start staying with them, take no responsibility at all. The place runs as if nobody is answerable. And the restaurant staff is outright unpolished and rude. They speak back to you and blame you for even asking how long it would take to serve up an order. We stayed there just the previous week and the only time we ate at their restaurant was at breakfast. On the last night, we were all too tired so we decided to eat dinner there. After 45 minutes had passed and my four year old son started getting really restless, I went to enquire how long it would take. A person at the counter said to me with a very unpleasant expression, “Sir there are other people also and we have to serve everyone.” I said “All I’m asking is, if it’s going to take long we can change the order to something that’ll come quickly since we’re waiting for 45 minutes.” The person at the desk made an extremely dirty face and said to me “aap abhi aye hain, 45 mins kaha hue hain, kuch bhi mat boliye!” I took my family without a word and left from there since I did not want to spoil my trip over that one person over a trivial matter. Apart from that, the electricity in the room kept dying. Multiple calls to the reception went unanswered and calls that were picked up went unattended. One time I even hurt my foot due to the darkness so bad that I bled and in spite of asking for first aid they did not comply for over an hour. They were very rude when asked for a cup for my baby to drink milk in and used to argue each day that they had delivered a cup just the previous day. Was I expected to wash the cup myself each day and make my son use the it for five days?! Highly reluctant to serve water, towels, etc. no particular amenities other than that. And I can go and on and on about their misconduct. Swimming pool was clean and well maintained. Overall a highly unfavourable experience for all of us. If you are looking for luxury, this is not for you, please go further south to Taj Exotica or The Leela. If you are looking for comfort, good food, great location, adequate parking, good security in a gated community and great Customer Service, Lotus Beach Resort is the place to be.Its less than 5 minutes’ walk to the beach. Benaulim is a quiet beach in South Goa and you can often have a large section of the beach to yourself. There are few shacks open due to the impact of Super Cyclonic Storm Kyarr. The Southern Deck, Johncy's, Pedros were the ones we frequented and recommend. We also visited Rafael's but did not relish the food, however, the place offers a great view of the Arabian Sea.The Hotel has Ground and Single story Villas spread across a huge property. I suggest you request a room near the central area if you are looking for room service or have a family. There are other villas overlooking the pool but I think they are under a different Management.The rooms are reasonably big, we were first shown a Hall, Bed & kitchen, but we opted for a one which had a bed and an open kitchen as we did not plan to do much cooking in the room. To each his own here. We called in for food often and were impressed with the fare they offer. The menu is not too vast, and in my opinion, it should not be, but the Chef would be open to serve you with dishes outside the menu.The one thing that struck me with Lotus Beach Resort is that they just would not say no! The customer was treated like a king. This was true across every staff we met. The Management team went out of the way to satisfy our every need and beyond. I have stayed in Orchid hotels Pune , that’s when I came to know about this resort in Benaulim South Goa. So when I planned to visit South Goa this time I have chosen Lotus Echo Beach Resort . my experience was decent here it’s not up to my expectations I wanted to give it 3.5 star but as that’s not available I m giving it 4 star. Reasons for my rating Location- it’s situated in a residential complex so at first one may get confuse. Place is peaceful and beach is located nearby. Now obviously downside is market is bit far but that’s okay. Booking and check in was easy . Lady at the reception was helpful. You can book vehicles for rent or cab even auto from here. They are happy to help you in this regard. Rooms - we booked tulip room. Room size was decent , bathroom was okay however you do not get balcony in these rooms . One problem most of the people faces are where to dry their clothes. Breakfast and restaurant- - This was very disappointing as restaurant doesn’t offer much options. Breakfast buffet was average, I was surprised that in Goa they don’t provide pav in breakfast 😁. One person in restaurant was very rude we didn’t like his behaviour .

Housekeeping - I really liked housekeeping staff as we required more drinking water they happily provided us with 5 litre bottle without extra charges. Pool - pool is a bit faraway from resort and feels very open. It was not that clean I saw insects in pool water .
