Someshwar Nath Mandir in Arareaj, Bihar, is a revered religious site that holds great significance among the local community. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple offers a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere, making it a perfect place for devotees and visitors seeking divine blessings and tranquility.

The temple’s architecture is simple yet majestic, with traditional elements that reflect the ancient Indian style of temple construction. The intricate carvings and sculptures inside the temple are a testament to the craftsmanship of the artisans, adding to the sacred aura of the place. The temple is surrounded by lush greenery, enhancing the serene environment and providing a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

This is one of the oldest temple. This is a lord Shiva and Maa Parvati temple.

It is said that this temple has seen all the 4 Yugas - Satya-Yuga, Treta-Yuga, Dwapar-Yuga and Kali-Yuga.

The evidence of the existence of this temple along with small reservoir (Pokhar), can also be found in Upanishads as well.

According to the local people, In Treta-Yuga, Bhagwan Shree Ram and his 'Baraat' settled here for Night rest (Ratri Vishram) when he was going to marry Maa Sita and after marriage while returning to Ayodhya, Maa Sita also worshiped lord Shiva and Maa Parvati.

Also, it is said that, in Dwapar-Yuga, Pandavas were also came here for worship Mahadev and Maa Parvati.

In this temple, the Garbhagriha of Mahadev and Maa Parvati are separated with a small distance however both the Garbhagriha has been tied to a knot with Saffron color ideally represents marriage knots (Gathbandhan).

The Beauty is for this temple is spectacular and eye catching. The Shivalingam is gone really deep which take us back in time.

The crowd in festival time is huge. I visited this temple with family couple of times during normal weekend. You will find all the Puja samagri inside or outside the temple campus.

You can also have your regular breakfast outside of the temple main entrance. We basically had Puri sabji, Jalebi (Sweet dish) and all after Puja.

Bottom line is - This temple is really worth to visit with family. You can feel the positive vibes and peace.

Areraj is a holy city of North Bihar which is 28 Km. south West from Motihari linked with pucca road. The famous Someshwar Nath Mahadev Temple is age old which attracts lakhs of pilgrims from other districts as well as Nepal on the occasion of Shrawani Mela (During July-August). Areraj a village has developed up to town and now it is the Headquarter of Areraj Subdivision. Also at Areraj lies an Ashokan pillar attracting tourists throughout the year. Note: One thing I really didn't like about this temple is every priest asking for the Dakshina (donation). It's seems they all are greedy. All the priest will make you... Yell on them.
