I recently had the pleasure of visiting Badamwari Park in Srinagar, and it was an enchanting experience that left me in awe. The park's main highlight is undoubtedly the breathtaking almond trees and their magnificent blossom during the season. The sight of the pink and white flowers stretching as far as the eye can see is simply mesmerizing. The park is meticulously maintained, showcasing the natural beauty of the almond trees in all their glory. The pathways winding through the park allow visitors to immerse themselves in the serene atmosphere and take in the aromatic scent of the blossoms. Not only is Badamwari Park a visual feast, but it also offers a tranquil escape from the bustling city. The peaceful ambiance is perfect for nature lovers and those seeking solace amidst the chaos of everyday life. The park provides ample seating areas where you can relax, read a book, or simply enjoy the soothing surroundings. I was particularly impressed by the park's cleanliness and the efforts made to preserve its natural charm. The management has done an excellent job in maintaining the park's integrity, ensuring that visitors can fully appreciate the beauty of the almond trees and their blossoms. I would highly recommend visiting Badamwari Park during the almond blossom season. The sheer magnificence of the flowering trees will leave you awe-inspired and rejuvenated. Badamwari is a 300 acre almond bloom heaven. It is located on the foot hills of Koh-e-maraan. When you visit koh-i-maran, i will advise you to give a visit to this garden too. Well maintained, it is in its full glory in spring. It is usually opened in mid March and remains an awesome attraction before summer takes its kingdom. I visited it from Qamarwari side. If you are coming from North-west of the valley, you can cut the city completely. But within the city you have to be there from the main city roads. The parking is available fre of cost. The current ticket fees of Rs 24 is for adults. I don't have the information about the children. The garden ends on the banks of jhelum river but the flood plain is not part of the garden. I wish it was a part of the garden, it would have added to the glory of the garden. I feel the actual reason for keeping the river separate would have been the environment concerns. BUT THERE IS ALWAYS A PRECEDENT TO BE SET. RIGHT? Origin of the Almond Garden- The origin is scaffolded in history. They say it was there even before zainu-abidin. It existed before 14th century A.D. There is a dome for warris Shah in the garden. Koh-i-maran can be seen from the garden and also the darmath trust temple. A must visit in spring. Autumn, summer and winter also demand their share. Go,enjoy, share pictures and make life good.

Badamwari Park, also known as Badamwari Garden, is a historic and enchanting garden located in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. Situated at the foothills of Hari Parbat (also called Koh-e-Maraan), this sprawling park is renowned especially for its early bloom of almond flowers, earning it a special place among nature lovers and tourists visiting the region. Covering more than 300 kanals (about 37.5 acres), Badamwari Park offers a serene and beautiful escape from the bustling city, making it an ideal spot for leisurely walks, picnics, and relaxation.

The origins of Badamwari Garden predate the 14th century, with historical records indicating its existence even before the reign of the prominent Sultan Zain-ul-Abidin. While the exact date of establishment remains unclear, the garden holds immense historical and cultural significance, having served various purposes over the centuries. A distinctive dome inside the garden is named after an Afghan ruler, Warris Shah, which adds a unique historical element to the site.

Historically, the garden was maintained and admired during Mughal times and was known for its lush greenery and cascading water features. The Mughals, renowned for their expertise in garden architecture, likely played a role in shaping the park’s design and landscape. The garden blends natural beauty with subtle water channels, trees, and flowers, creating a visually appealing and calming atmosphere.

One of the prime highlights of Badamwari Park is the spectacular bloom of almond trees that occurs as early as February or March every year. Vast orchards of almond trees burst into delicate pink and white blossoms, blanketing the garden in a carpet of color and fragrance. This beautiful floral spectacle heralds the arrival of spring in Srinagar and attracts photography enthusiasts, tourists, and nature admirers eager to witness this seasonal marvel. The almond blossom season is considered one of the best times to visit the park, offering breathtaking views and a tranquil experience.

In addition to almond blossoms, the garden features other seasonal flowers throughout the year, including roses, petunias, daffodils, tulips, lilies, and forget-me-nots, extending the garden’s charm well beyond spring. The presence of well-kept stone pathways invites leisurely strolls that allow visitors to fully immerse themselves in the serene environment and enjoy spectacular views of surrounding mountains and Srinagar city.

After a period of neglect in the late 20th century, Badamwari Park was revived in 2008 by Jammu & Kashmir Bank, restoring its greenery, infrastructure, and cultural activities. Since its revival, the garden has once again welcomed visitors and locals to celebrate the beauty of nature and Kashmiri heritage. Cultural programs, including traditional Kashmiri folk songs and group dances, are often performed during special occasions and garden openings, adding a festive and authentic touch to visits.

The tranquil ambiance and natural beauty of Badamwari make it perfect for meditation, picnicking with family and friends, or simply spending quiet moments amidst nature’s best. Its relatively peaceful setting compared to other more crowded gardens in Srinagar, such as Shalimar and Nishat Gardens, distinguishes it as a hidden gem worth exploring.

In terms of accessibility, Badamwari Park is located about 6.5 kilometers from Lal Chowk, the city’s commercial center. It can be reached easily by taxi or local transportation, making it convenient for tourists staying...
