I visited Shastri Circle Park in Shastri Nagar, Jodhpur, recently with family, and had a really nice time. It's one of those places that feels welcoming, lively yet peaceful — a good mix, especially if you want to spend some quality time outdoors without going too far.
✅ What I Loved
Beautiful Greenery & Well-Maintained Garden The park has lots of grass, trees, and landscaped garden areas. It’s pleasant to walk around, especially during early morning or after sunset when the heat subsides. The lush green lawns provide good shade and a fresh feeling.
Walking / Jogging Tracks & Exercise Facilities There are well-marked or usable walkways around the circle, and some simple open-gym or exercise equipments for those who like to stretch or workout outdoors. It supports early morning walkers, joggers, and also people looking for a calm place to do yoga or just stroll.
Children’s Play Area For families, the park has swings and play equipment for kids. My nieces/nephews had fun running around, playing in the swings etc. The play-zone is pretty decent.
Musical Fountain & Evening Ambience One of the highlights is the fountain (sometimes musical) and lighting in the evening. When the fountain is operational + lights at dusk, the circle becomes a very enjoyable spot. The atmosphere gets lively with families, youth, couples all around.
Street Food & Food Stalls Around Around the circle are many food vendors and small eateries offering snacks, street food, fast food (veg / nonveg), ice creams, juices etc. Perfect if you want to have a quick bite or try local snacks. The food options add to the charm and make it more of a hangout place rather than just a park.
Accessibility & Timing The park opens early (~5:30 AM) and stays open till about 10 PM, so you have flexibility. It’s centrally located in Shastri Nagar, so reaching it is convenient from most parts of the city.
⚠️ Could Be Better
Cleanliness / Maintenance Issues Some spots need better upkeep — occasionally there’s trash or litter lying around. The lawn or grass in certain parts could be greener; some of the outdoor benches or equipment could be refurbished.
Crowds & Noise in Evenings Even though the evenings are the best time for ambience and food stalls, it also means more people, noise and traffic around. If you're going for a quiet walk or meditation, early morning is preferred.
Fountain / Light Show Availability Sometimes the musical fountain / lighting show is not working or is off schedule. Would be great if timings were more regular and clearly advertised.
Parking & Traffic around the Circle Since it’s a circular area with busy roads around, parking can be tricky during peak hours. Also vehicular traffic around the circle can get a bit chaotic.
🎯 Overall Verdict
Shastri Circle Park is a gem in Jodhpur — a place where one can relax, socialize, enjoy nature, taste local food, and spend good time whether alone, with friends or with family. For me, the evening there was refreshing — watching the lights, letting the kids play, grabbing some street food, taking a walk under the trees — all of it combined made for a very satisfying visit.
If you plan to go, I’d suggest visiting around 5:30-6 PM so you can catch the fountain/light show, enjoy the food stalls, but avoid the peak rush that comes a bit later. Also carrying water / snack might help just in case stalls are...
Read moreShastri Circle in Jodhpur is often promoted as a lively and pleasant place for evening outings, but unfortunately, the reality doesn't quite live up to the expectations. While the location is central and easily accessible, the overall experience can be underwhelming, especially for tourists expecting a well-maintained public space.
One of the major issues is poor maintenance. The garden area, although meant to be green and peaceful, often looks neglected. The grass is patchy, benches are broken or dirty, and there is litter in several corners, particularly during evenings when the place gets crowded. The musical fountain, which is advertised as a key attraction, often doesn't work properly, and when it does, the show is very basic and lacks synchronization or proper lighting.
The surrounding area gets very noisy and chaotic, with heavy traffic and honking from all directions. There’s very little control over vendors and vehicles, which makes it difficult to walk around peacefully. The open area around the circle is filled with hawkers and food stalls, which might appeal to locals, but the hygiene levels are questionable. Dust, smoke, and garbage can ruin the experience for those looking for a clean environment.
The public facilities like toilets are either locked or in very poor condition, which is a major inconvenience for families and elderly visitors. Safety is also a concern after dark, as there’s limited police presence or proper lighting in some areas.
In summary, Shastri Circle might still be an option for locals looking for a quick snack or walk, but for outsiders or tourists, it does not offer a pleasant or memorable experience. Jodhpur has much better and cleaner places to spend your time. This spot badly needs attention from city authorities to reach its...
