The Padmasambhava Buddhist Vihara, commonly called the golden temple, was built in 1999 and inaugurated by the Dalai Lama. The architecture of the temple is in Tibetan style — with vibrant colours, artistic designs, sculptures and paintings. The golden coloured deer and the wheel symbol of Buddhism crown the shrine. The area outside the temple has enough space to host a congregation of thousands of monks during rituals. The prayer hall inside can house a few hundred monks at a time. As the wide steps lead to the temple, two lion replicas on either side grab your attention. The paintings on the walls next to the entrance depict various Buddhist deities. Once inside the temple, you are almost immediately drawn to the three imposing golden statues. The idol in the middle is of Sakyamuni Buddha or Gauthama Buddha flanked by those of Guru Padmasambhava to his right and Amitayus to the left.

One may feel that they are in Nepal or in some other Buddhist Nation while being here. The temple and its adjoining places are exclusively dominated by Nepalis. They maintain this town so beautifully and neatly and this is inside Mysore dist. It was informed by one guide that the place was dedicated by government to hardworking Nepalis on their request to maintain their uniqueness and we could see only tourists in this place other than Nepalis. The place was calm and serene. Definitely you will love this place

Really calm and cool place, this is a tourist attraction for both indians and foreigners. The monuments and the statues are built really well, really magnificent.the place is really huge. There are scriptures written in sanskrith in several places. This vihara signifies the greatness of lord budda. Please come here with your family and friends to get an essence ..
