It is a historical and Hindu holy place, it is ruled by all Karnataka empires, great kings like vishnuvardhana(bitti deva of hoysala dynasty) krishna deva raya of vijayanagara and mysore wadyers have developed this place and temples, ranganathaswamy temple is famous here and it is the first or adi ranga of three (3) ranga, which is said to be visited in a same day from the sun rise to sun set, other 2 are madhya ranga in shivanna samundra and antya ranga in srirangam, I did this trip on 25th of February 2020, ranganathaswamy temple in srirangapatna opens at 7am, I did started from bangalore at 4.30 am and back to home by 11.30 pm visiting all the rangas.

Great Ancient Temple to visit. The architecture of pillars is just marvelous. I strongly suggest to visit this temple. You can visit alone or with friends / family. Which is roughly 15km from mysuru and you can reach by bus, autos, train. Key Highlights : 1. Architecture of temple 2. Horse ridings 3. Different types of hand made toys 4. Near to Mysore 5. All ages can visit

Must see temple, Devare darege ellidanthe. Most of the tourist come and visit this place, kids can really enjoy horse riding and other games, well parents can taste the essence of our history. Inside temple one can find different set of pillers designed. Most important is when u get Swamy Darshana, no words to describe one must experience it......

Srirangapatna (also spelled Shrirangapattana; anglicized to Seringapatam during the British Raj) is a town of Mandya district in the Indian State of Karnataka. Located near the city of Mysore, it is of religious, cultural and historic importance. The monuments on the island town of Srirangapatna has been nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its application is pending on the tentative list of UNESCO

Srirangapatna has since time immemorial been an urban center and place of pilgrimage. During the Vijayanagar empire, it became the seat of a major viceroyalty, from where several nearby vassal states of the empire, such as Mysore and Talakad, were overseen. When perceiving the decline of the Vijayanagar empire, the rulers of Mysore ventured to assert independence, Srirangapatna was their first target. Raja Wodeyar vanquished Rangaraya,[3] the then viceroy of Srirangapatna, in 1610 and celebrated the Navaratri festival in the town that year. It came to be accepted in time that two things demonstrated control and signified sovereignty over the Kingdom of Mysore by any claimant to the throne:

Successful holding of the 10-day-long Navaratri festival, dedicated to Chamundeshwari, patron goddess of Mysore;

Control of the fort of Srirangapatna, the fortification nearest to the capital city of Mysore.

Srirangapatna remained part of the Kingdom of Mysore from 1610 to after India's independence in 1947; as the fortress closest to the capital city of Mysore, it was the last bastion and defence of the kingdom in case...

The island fortress of the legendary warrior king Tipu Sultan, Srirangapatna is just 16km from Mysore city. Inside the fortress is Tipu's mosque with its twin minarets, the celebrated Ranganatha Swamy Temple, Tipu's Summer Palace, the Wellesley Bridge, and the dungeons where British officers were once imprisoned. Equally impressive is the ornate white-domed Gumbaz, an imposing structure with doors of ebony inlaid with ivory and lacquered with Tipu's tiger-striped emblem. About 1km to the east of the fort is Tipu's Summer Palace (known as the Daria Daulat Bagh) set amidst a...
