Very nice park to come with family. Poopoli National Agrifest and Wayanad Flower Show at Ambalavayal in Kerala is held every year in January and marks the beginning of the new year. It is the biggest flower show in Kerala and is a venue for showing and exploring the latest trends and techniques in horticulture and floriculture. The Wayanad Flower Show is a beautiful exhibition of stunning flowers, with as many as 100 stalls a year. Vertical gardens and a variety of flowers are the highlights of this festival, and apart from that, the flower show is an avenue for adventurous sports and delicacies. A large collection of ornamental plants, nearly 200 stalls that sell garden plants and agricultural implements, and pavilions of government and private institutions are drawing people in large numbers to the sixth edition of Poopoli, an international flower show being organised by the Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) at its Regional Agriculture Research Station (RARS) at Ambalavayal in the district. Gladiolus flowers in all hues, except black, blue and green colours, on nearly two acres are the cynosure of all eyes. Other attractions of the show include a rose garden with more than 1,000 varieties of rose plants set up on 2.5 acres; a gladiolus garden with 13 varieties on one acre; hundreds of dahlia plants in 25 varieties; and a floating garden with Chinese balsam and aster plants set up on 12 bamboo rafts, and two coracles with marigold on a lake in the middle of the garden. Colourful spread The gladiolus garden that are filled with white and yellow flowers, chendumalli or tagetes and vaadamalli (gomphrena globosa), fragrant dahlia, unique tulips that are brought form Kashmir and more than 1000 varieties of roses and orchids are some of the major attractions of the flower show. The visitors would be attracted to the vertical gardens made with colourful flowers as well. 2020 special sights Rain garden, coracle garden, floating garden are gravel garden would be the unique sights of 2020. Besides, the visitors can hang out at the food court or take part in the cooking competitions or enjoy the pet show. There are more than 200 stalls by the government and nongovernmental organizations at the flower show. The entry fee for adults would be Rs 50 per head and Rs 30 for kids.

Great though a bit unprofessional. Supposed to be an international flower show and largest in Kerala. Large open area, naturally beautiful and perfect blend of exotic exhibits. Flowers, trees, birds, saplings, commercial stalls, children play areas, rides, eateries, fish expo and a lake. No parking area but you park on either sides of the the road, which is not even cleared for parking, and you need to walk back for one or two kilometers in addition to the traffic congestion on the road. Walkways devoid of any shading and burning sun rays, better you take an umbrella or a cap at least. You can't pay digitally in the stalls, no ATMs nearby, and if you find one in the town there's some waiting hence come with a loaded purse. No much restaurants in the town and you will not get a major meal inside. Huge crowd and people enjoy it despite any shortcomings. All these problems can only be settled if this garden is open in all seasons, thereby making this relatively small town a tourist destination, giving job to the people and developing the town towards a tourist city.

An absolutely fantastic place to spend a full day! The area is vast, beautifully decorated, and offers so much to explore. The flower show is breathtaking, with vibrant displays that are a feast for the eyes. There are also sections for birds and pets, which are a treat for animal lovers of all ages. The handcrafts and spices section is impressive, showcasing unique and high-quality items, perfect for shopping or simply admiring the craftsmanship. For families, the rides for both children and adults are a highlight, adding a touch of adventure to the day. The centerpiece is the big pond in the middle, which enhances the overall charm of the place. It’s a great spot to relax and enjoy the view. This venue is well-maintained, and the effort put into organizing such a diverse and engaging experience is evident. Highly recommended for a fun-filled day with family or friends!
