The history of the "Salt Satyagraha" and the atrocities committed by the British army on individuals who rebelled against them during British colonial administration are told in great detail in Freedom Square, which is located on the beaches of Kozhikode. The Square was designed so that the shining moments of our freedom heroes' sacrifices communicate with the present. The cultural and commercial interactions with the Arabs, Chinese, and Portuguese, the heyday of the Zamorin monarchy, and the struggles against the British colonial invasion are all memorialised on the walls that were built here.

Very well designed and true to the spirit of Kozhikode where Vasco da Gama first landed in India and paved the way for colonization of the country by the Portuguese, Dutch and the British along with the French.The old beach stage, once stood where the freedom square is now, hosted many historical events and personalities. The beach stage was the most prominent and largest venue for cultural programs and political conventions in the region. The stage though was just a reminiscence of the past with its structure sinking & dilapidating due to aging.
