I recently had the opportunity to visit the Lighthouse, and I must say it was a truly unforgettable experience. Nestled along the breathtaking coastline, this lighthouse offers a unique combination of beauty and thrill that is hard to find elsewhere. Here's my review of the Lighthouse: First and foremost, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the Lighthouse had a lift facility. This made the journey to the top much more accessible and convenient for visitors of all ages and physical abilities. The presence of a lift ensures that even those who may struggle with climbing stairs can still enjoy the panoramic views from the lighthouse. I highly recommend visiting the Lighthouse during the evening hours. Not only does it provide a stunning backdrop for capturing memorable photos, but it also offers a respite from the scorching daytime heat. The cooler weather adds to the overall pleasant experience, allowing visitors to explore the lighthouse comfortably. While the Lighthouse's top observation area may have limited space, this in no way diminishes the awe-inspiring view that awaits you. As you ascend to the summit, the anticipation builds, and once you reach the top, you're greeted by sweeping vistas of the surrounding coastline. The unobstructed views of the shimmering sea and the rugged cliffs are simply breathtaking, making the climb well worth the effort. However, I must warn you that climbing the Lighthouse can be a somewhat intimidating experience. The narrow staircases and steep steps add an element of excitement and adventure, but they may also evoke a sense of fear, especially for those with a fear of heights. If you're up for a thrilling challenge, climbing the Lighthouse will surely get your heart racing. Overall, my visit to the Lighthouse was a delightful and unforgettable experience. The combination of the lift facility, the cool evening weather, and the awe-inspiring views made it a must-visit attraction. Whether you're seeking a scenic adventure or simply want to soak in the beauty of the coastline, the Lighthouse offers an enchanting experience that will leave you in awe. I highly recommend visiting the Lighthouse, but do remember to check the operating hours and plan your visit accordingly. Enjoy the beautiful vistas and embrace the thrill of climbing to the top

I have had the opportunity to visit a few lighthouses in Mangaluru, Goa etc. These places are treated as sensitive installations and the security around these places is so intimidating that you are scared of talking to security guards. You always have some fascination towards these magnificent structures and immense curiosity to have a closer look from inside the structures. Thangassery Lighthouse is an exception. Visitors are allowed here for a nominal entry fee. At the bottom you have a well-maintained office, garden, staff quarters and a well-maintained restroom. Once you enter the foot of the lighthouse you are greeted with a gleaming glass elevator which will take you to the top of the building. The beacon and the controls are housed at the next level and you have to climb the narrow stairs to have a look. From here you can walk outside on to a circular deck from where you can have a 360-degree view of the ocean and the city on the eastern side. You can spend hours here but you have to make way for the new visitors. it was an amazing lifetime experience for me. Kerala is truly a tourist friendly destination which offers exciting experiences which cannot be matched by any other place in the country.

Thangasseri light house, 117 years old, 135ft tall, the second tallest on the Kerala coast, is a must visit place in Kollam. You will get a spectacular view of coastal area of Kollam from the top. Although elevator facility is available, if you're healthy, it is better to climb the stairs to enjoy the visit. There are windows through which you will get a view Kollam beach. Its premises are well maintained and has a small garden and a park for children. It recently got upgraded and now has a vehicle parking facility at front. It is advised to take ticket for photography otherwise the staff will take your photography devices under their custody. Pregnant ladies and aged people should avoid visiting this place. Elevator facility will not take you to the top most portion. You will have to climb a steep staircase to reach the balcony. People who are visiting this place may carry some food and and water as there is no shops available nearby. Only 10-12 people can stay at the balcony at the same time. Hence better avoid holidays to visit this place as it will be crowded and you will not be allowed to spend much time at the top.

Thangassery Lighthouse in Kollam is truly a hidden gem that offers visitors a unique and memorable experience. Situated along the scenic coastline of Kerala, this historic lighthouse stands tall, offering breathtaking views of the Arabian Sea and the surrounding landscape. It is one of the two lighthouses in the kollam district. It has been in operation since 1902. This one has a height of 41 metres making as the second tallest lighthouse in kerala. The lighthouse is painted with white and red oblique bands. From the top, you can witness the stunning beauty of the sea, the sprawling coastline, and the bustling city below. There's also an elevator facility for those who can't climb the stairs. Lift is available up to the 6th floor and after that around 25 steps. The last set of steps were very steep and will be difficult for old age people. There is a miniature park for children. We can spend our evenings with friends and family with beautiful sunset. The lighthouse is accessible from 10 AM to 1 PM and 2 PM to 6 PM from Tuesday to Sunday. It remains closed on Monday.
