Vetal Hill is popularly known as Vetal Tekdi. It is one of the most famous places amongst the locals residing in Pune. Fitness freaks frequent Vetal Hill quite often for either an early morning walk, jog, trek or to cycle. Situated just 10km from Pune railway station, it is easily accessible by road. Vetal Hill is one of the highest points in Maharashtra at an elevation of 2600ft. This is a perfect place for a family picnic, photography, birding or just an outing along with friends on a weekend.

The forest officials have constructed a deck at the top of the hill which offers a spell-bounding landscape of mother nature. Vetal Hill is a popular tourist destination which has a rich flora and fauna along with small lakes, colourful birds, green in every shade and a breathtaking view of the surroundings.

The hill is dotted with chirping birds, peacock, rabbits, falcons and colourful butterflies. Apart from the famous Vetal temple the Chaturshringi temple too finds its place here.

One has to scale close to 100 steps to offer prayers to goddess Chaturshringi along with other gods and goddesses. Birders frequent this place to spot colourful birds like robin, francolin, minivet, bulbuls and many more. Spend a weekend with friends and family at the gorgeous Vetal hills surrounded by fluttering butterflies, chirping birds and distant echo from nearby villages.

An early morning trek to Vetal Hill is highly recommended to witness the gorgeous sunrise. Vetal Hill has a temple at the top of the hill dedicated to the goddess Vetala. Thus the mountain has been named after the temple worshipping...

Arai Tekdi aka Vetal tekdi is the highest point in the city of Pune, from here you can see the horizon and the cityscape. You can watch plenty of rare birds in their natural habitats, jog, meditate and more.

What Makes It Awesome? Vetal Tekdi, at an elevation of 2,600 feet, is the highest point in the city. On a blissful clear morning, one can see the city of Pune, at sunrise. Home to ARAI known as the Automotive Research Association of India, there is also an observation deck maintained by the Indian Forest Department.

You could do a lot around the hill, but locals usually come here for their morning jogs and you'll spot several walking and trekking enthusiasts. It's one of Pune's most mesmerising and treasured experiences. But if jogging isn't your thing, then you could bring some friends and have a breakfast picnic while enjoying the alluring view. Perhaps you could also channel your inner photographer and spam your Instagram followers with gorgeous views of Pune, the morning mist along the walking path and if you're a pro you're definitely capturing birds in flight and hidden in trees. Keep a look out for rare oriental white-eye, francolins, and more.

We love to visit here to meditate and calm ourselves down and take a digital detox. Away from the bustling city life, the location is a perfect place for one to connect...

If you are somebody who uses Google maps like i do then you might not make it to arai hills like i didn't! Google tells you the way through arai main gate and the guard wouldn't let you pass through there. Then they will tell u to take a way that goes right next to the gate entry. When you start walking on the road you come across an area where one direction takes you hiking up and the other one takes you straight where there's also a small rusted gate. I went through the gate and kept on walking. There is vetal Baba temple at a distance and i couldn't reach there because once you go in, you get a little lost. There's absolutely nobody in that jungle sort of an area which is next to arai. I would also like to mention the mosquitoes are in abundance there so make an informed decision before going on.

Waiting for the monsoons to arrive .....and the tekri will be lush green once again Though the trees have shed their leaves and turned a bit dry....(mechanism of nature to conserve wate)r....still the place has its own charm and vibrancy As the bushes have dried up one can easily spot many peacocks in the wilderness alongside the trail The place is home for many dogs who are accustomed to humans around them Some people eat ,drink, party and throw all the plastic waste there itself.....while there are others who are collecting such waste regularly to preserve the nature Caring beings need to out number such mischievous people who are causing harm to the mini beautiful forest in the heart of the city.....the lungs of pune Kindly help in keeping the place serene Let's do it
