Cafe August 1 Five — Restaurant in Pune

This cafe is situated in the heart of Kothrud near a lot of educational institutions. It is a favourite hangout for students. Nevertheless the menu will appeal to youngsters and adults alike. The decor is simple and chic.

I had the Summer Litchi Cooler. One of my favourite fruits is Litchi and this one, true to it's name cooled my system. It is a summer essentials drink and with the subtle yet balanced flavour of litchi which will soothe you.

Chicken Schezwan Momos were absolutely delicious. The highlight was that the cover was absolutely thin and perfectly steamed. When coming to the stuffing, chicken mince was flavoured with spices so well and completely stuffed without leaving any hollow space. They were tossed in Schezwan sauce and yet that sauce did not overpower the dish.

Who wouldn't like some Fries by the side tossed in Peri Peri. The Fries were long and crisp and a good side dish.

The surprising factor was that this Pasta was cooked Al dente as it should ideally be. I did not expect this from this cafe at all and was glad that they could achieve this. The sauce was thick, cheesy and rich. Alfredo Pasta was an exquisite dish for me.

Chicken Hot Garlic is a delectable appetizer with fried chicken chunks tossed in Hot Garlic Sauce along with some red and yellow peppers. This one reminded me of the starter which you get at Chaupati. I felt they could reduce the food colour and could use a substitute such as Kashmiri red chilli powder.

August 1 Five Special Pizza had ample Jalapenos, black olives and few veggies. It was a regular Pizza and nothing extraordinary as the name as I was expecting more.

They nailed the Nutella Waffle and what a treat it was! They were crisp and maintained the crunch inspite of having nutella in between every layer. I'm surely going back for this one.

I was curious to know the reason behind the name of this cafe. They have dedicated this cafe to the Indian Army. Although they don't have any specific theme pertaining to it's name however the intent is good. The owners are very humble and glad to receive our feedback. The staff could be more enthusiastic.

While passing through MIT road we saw this cafe, the name immediately caught my attention and I though of giving it a try. Since we were in a hurry we decide to take the food parcel. We tried their special August 1 five pizza, which even though got cold after reaching home, tasted really good. Overloaded with toppings, thin crust and perfectly balanced with flavours. The alfredo pasta was still hot, little overcooked but tasted good. The BBQ cheese burger was scrumptious, the patty was crispy and delicious and the bun was super soft. Overall loved the taste.
